I currently cook for 5 (me, husband, and 3 small children). I am pregnant again so I will be cooking for 6. I'm looking for ways to stretch the food budget. I only have a Wal-Mart, and two small (expensive) grocery stores. No outdoor markets or anything. Any tips, tricks or recipes would be appreciated.

I will be marinating and grilling boneless skinless breasts for a chicken cesar salad. What is a good recipe for the marinade?

I was thinking Lemon Juice, Olive oil, basil, S&P and crushed garlic? But if you have any better suggestions, I am open.

Thanks.

I have a pot roast in my freezer, weighing about 3 pounds. I can take it out around 2:30, would it be possible to have it for dinner, or is it a lost cause? If it is possible, what should I do?

Just looking for some summer kitchen fun for the kids. The childrean are 5, 7, and 10 and we would like something new. I would like simple spanish recipes. I am half Puerto Rican, but know nothing of it. My mom is German and my dad is Puerto Rican, they divorce when I was young, so I was raised by my mom, and lost contact with my dad--language barrier--I don't even speak it. But I would like simple recipes that I can share with my family--I have a husband(Irish) and 3 kids. I would like to instill some of my nationality into them. Any recipes would be greatly appreciated.

Today is my sister's birthday and I decided to make her favorite cake, spice cake with penuche frosting, and surprise her at work. The frosting requires sifted powdered sugar. I couldn't find the sifter, so I stood there for 20 minutes putting it through my colander because I couldn't find anything else to use. Then I went to take the cake out of the oven and my grip slipped from the non stick spray and the whole cake flipped over and fell out! I had to run back to the store to buy another cake mix and now it's baking. Have you had anything like this happen? If so, please share your story. Thanks!
