I wouldn't if I were u.... he's gonna want a nice, homecooked meal instead of Potato Peelings Soup!! Instead, try decorating yur house with rope & stuff! That'll get a laugh out of him! He'll love whatever you do for him!

Congrats also!!

I agree with having a home cooked meal. However. SOS is probably what they got most of the time. (*hit on a shingle) So maybe look up recipes to jazz that up. Instead of creamed chipped beef on toast, how about shaved prime rib on toasted hoagies with sauteed mushrooms, garlic, and au jus? Dress up whatever the chow was. Make it gourmet.

My husband is a veteran, and he'll still whip up a form of SOS that involves cream of mushroom soup, peas, and leftover corned beef brisket. He's proud that he can improve on SOS and I love it too!

Good luck, and tell your son we're proud, best wishes, and Godspeed.

I wouldn't think basic training chow would be a favorite of your sons. It is probably something that he would prefer to forget all about. I remember stories that my son told about the terrible tasting food they were served at basic.

The best chow, that can be made at home and taste good, is chili mac. It's just ground beef, cheese, and elbow macaroni.

Don't make S.O.S!
