I always make a salad and garlic bread to go with Spaghetti and meatballs. Its really a necessity with this type of meal. I would make a salad using romain lettuce. Put in diced tomatoes, black olives, red onion, and avocado. Toss with Italian dressing and top with some parmesan cheese. Those are the only two sides I usually have at the table. You could make stuffed mushrooms also. Those are very good. Whatever side you use, just make sure its light. Spaghetti and meatballs is a big meal in itself already.

You could make an anitpasto platter:

Anchovy filets, rinsed and patted dry

Prosciutto, sliced very thin (Italian ham)

Salami, sliced very thin

Copacola, sliced very thin (this is made from pork)

Chunk white tuna, in bite-size chunks

Asiago cheese, cut in thin strips

Provolone cheese, cut in thin strips

Italian fontina or fontinella cheese, cut in thin strips

Parmesano Reggiano cheese, shaved into curls

Marinated mushrooms

Marinated artichokes

Marinated Red Peppers

Green olives

Ripe olives

Pepperoncini (pickled peppers)

Pickled cherry peppers

Sliced Hard-Cooked Eggs

Romaine lettuce leaves (to line platter)

Lay the lettuce leaves on a large platter to form a bed. Roll the meats into cigar or funnel shapes. Place all of the items on the platter in an attractive manner, either center to outside or side-by-side. I would use the marinated and pickled items in between the various meats and cheeses. Think of the colors as you separate. The Parmesan cheese curls can be randomly placed on top of the other items. The platter can be prepared several hours ahead and refrigerated until about 30 minutes before serving, then brought to room temperature.

*You can vary the items on the platter depending on what you & your family prefer. Squisito!

Don't listen to the others answers. This is so simple. try
a salad with ranch dressing and on the side a good fresh spring onion. That's what i had last week. It goes good with
a spaghetti dinner. Also garlic bread is good too.

My sides would be large cubbed onions, squash, sliced garrots etc lightly tossed in a skillet with some Italian seasoning and garlic. Serve warm with salt and pepper.

Then, I would have a small side salad

You could make brasciole...very simple. Buy a thin sliced steak at the store (usually labeled beef for brasciole) spread olive oil, breadcrumbs and parmesan cheese on the meat, roll it up and tie it. Simmer it in your sauce. Some people like to pan fry it in olive oil before putting it in the sauce. It's delicious!
