When I use my broiler, no matter what I'm cooking, it smells really bad. Like Chemical-bad!! Always the same awful smell, but the food comes out OK. Could the oven's coating be burning ( or something...)? I'm worried about the fumes being toxic. Thanks!

My grandfather, an immigrant from the Ukraine, customarily poked a hole in a fresh egg and sucked out the contents. Who has done or witnessed this in person?

Can a turkey be satisfactorily deep fried in regular cooking oil, like corn oil? I have heard that peanut oil is the way to go but, the doggone stuff is sooo expensive. I have an opportunity to buy enough corn oil at 2 for 1 prices to make it tempting to try.
