Sometimes simple is the best:
On pound any sort of dried pasta cooked in salted water (9 minutes cooking time unless it is really thing pasta) and drained. Put butter pats into the hot pan and set on a low flame on the stove add the pasta back in the pot"
Put in melted butter about half a cup and two or three cloves of garlic run through the garlic press, dahs of salt. Sprinkle with a cup and a half of really good Romano and Parmesan cheeses, a half of a cup of heavy cream, heat through and serve.
Can sprinkle some red pepper flakes if you like it spicy.
Can add some fresh chopped flat leaf parsley and basil ciffonaded for garnish.

This is the easiest dish in the world. and I never get tired of it.
Go to your grocerey store and purcahse a white sauce. Garlic and herb, Alfredo, etc. etc. It does not matter, buy what you like.
While you are there, buy mushrooms, garlic(real garlic not powder), ham or salami or both. Maybe even bacon.
Dice up your veggies and meat. put together in a bowl.
Make your sauce.
Cook your noodles.
Combine as you see fit and eat.
If you are serious, make a loaf of cheesy garlic bread and open a bottle of ripple.
