My sister got divorced last year, and is probably going to get married to another guy she met 6 months ago (her 3rd marriage).

She had big ceremonies for her first 2 weddings (10 years ago, and 4 years ago). I don't think it's appropriate for someone to invite a whole bunch of people for yet another wedding -- especially when most of us have to fly across the country again to go. I actually think it's selfish, since it's very expensive to fly out for several days, lots of wedding gifts etc. People will feel uncomfortable not going, or going, it's sort of a lose-lose situation.

I think for your 3rd wedding it should be the bride, the groom, and a minister or judge, and that's pretty much it.

Any thoughts on this?

Has anyone else had this problem? I mean, we'd elope if we had the choice (we were going to, but now the parents (his; mine have no money) are paying and basically organising the entire day (they have plenty money to throw around)).

Problem is, I'm just so bored with all the organisation! I mean, I really, really couldn't care less what colour the bridemaid's dress is, and if it matches my mother's, or what colour the table centrepieces are - table centrepieces - what????. I'm quite happy to just let her organise the whole thing (whatever rocks your boat), but at some point I just know she's going to want some input! (Like me choosing a dress, ha ha ha). Does anybody else find all this colour coordinating and wedding planning just dearthly boring?

I personally just want to be married to the man I love without all this fuss (but I don't want to fall out with his mother either! (She's lovely really, just very - well, girly?)

What are your experiences?

We are in our mid 40’s and getting married. The band that will be playing at our wedding wants to bring their wives and girl friends to our wedding. We do not know these people and we had to omit some friends because there just isn’t enough room. If we allow this, we would have to add an additional table and an additional $100 per head.

What would be proper etiquette in this situation?

my fiance and i got engaged 2 months ago. we are planning a may 2009 wedding, and are hoping to get a place together about 6-9 months before then. for now we are both living with our parents trying to save up enough moneh. now my mom has gone and decided to throw us an engagement party and keeps asking what we want, and what she should tell other guests if they ask. but we have no idea, we dont have a kitchen, so we dont know what we need, or what color appliances we want, or whatever! she's driving me crazy with this stuff. we have a full size bed, its brand new, but she insists that she tell people queen size bedding cause "we'll get a new bed" and she insists on getting us new dishes even tho my best friend bought me a set last christmas, they're leopard print, they're completely me, but my mom hates them and refuses to accept that we like them and will use them. i told her want we really need is stuff for our dog, which is a constant and we know we'll need stuff for her. help

We meet everyday.
For eating or movies or park etc she says no.
But for sex she is eveready.
Her sister left her husband 1.5 yrs after marriage.
I love her & still wana marry her.
She says my house is small & asks me what will i do if her parents said no.
Is she confused? I get pain in my heart when she speaks negative.
I LOVE HER & want her as my life partner but she tells me to wait for marriage even though she satisfies me sexually.
She knows that i love her very deeply.
Is she looking someone else or is waiting that if someone comes in her life then she will dump me.

Girls Opinion is must reqd as i want to understand it from their perspective too. Boys must also answer.

I apologize for posting a similar question earlier, but it wasn't worded properly and I got a lot of unwanted responses. Here's one slightly rephrased. I deleted the other question.

The following people are all invited to the wedding, but I am thinking of inviting them to my bachelor party:

1. my father

2. the minister--I don't plan on having strippers at all, but I do plan on drinking at a bar/club. He's of a denomination that doesn't condemn drinking.

3. future-father-in-law

4. uncles of the bride (whom I hardly know)

5. cousins of the bride (whom I hardly know)

6. male significant other of female friend for 12 years (well acquainted with but not in the wedding party)

7. Husbands of my bride's friends (whom I hardly know)

8. Significant other of my bride's friend (met only once but we clicked, certain he's coming to the wedding as my bride's friend's date)

I have been with the same girl for 8 years now and have finally bought a ring. We both decide to wait until we were done with college and had a chance to save some money before we got married so we could afford a nice ceremony and reception. Well with that being said, it's no secret I'm going to propose (we both finished up school this spring and landed jobs soon after) so I am looking for a fun creative way to do so. I have been pitched many ideas already, but none "jump out" at me, so please dig deep down into that imagination and share your ideas with me! Ladies, how would you like to be proposed to? Keep in mind, I am a very unique individual and do not want anything too cliche or overused. Thanks fort the help!

Meaning, should I be physically present in the room, or is it better if he does it alone? I've heard both sides of the debate, just wondering what you think.

We had some one make them for us, but they're rather small. I think they're pretty cute and like them, but was wondering what you would think as a guest? I think our reception is going to be really nice: we're having salmon, prime rib, chicken cordon bleu, mashed potatoes, aspargus, salad, rolls, and even a little kid's buffet. We have the bridal cake and cheesecakes in place of the groom's cake. That's enough food in our eyes, so we didn't put a lot of emphasis on the favors....is that tacky?

This is reposted for clarity... the answers I were getting made me feel my questions was to vague.
My Situation: My Co-worker (the groom) is getting married on Dec. 22 in the Bahamas. (it is a very small office and we are all close) They are only having family attend and were originally going to have a reception here but are now NOT going to. They even set a registry. They are having Bridal showers & such (even a bridal type shower for the groom but manly) for those who cannot go to the wedding instead. (Both friends & Family)
Also- I just go married in June and they came to my wedding and got me a gift (towels valued at about $40) and I invited the bride to my shower but she did not come nor get me a card or gift for that.

So should I get them a gift... I dont think I should because I am not celebrating with them at all... no shower no reception nothing... what should I do???

Everyone I know is getting married but none of these couples have been together as long as my boyfriend and I. They have all got engaged within the first 2 years of being together and I'm so happy for them but I'm still waiting for my proposal after much longer than this. I know all couples progress at their own pace, but does a longer dating period mean that a man just isn't that passionate about his relationship with you?

Please give opinions on each one, and if you have any that you think I should look at please leave a link... These were my favorite 3 in the price range that I'm looking at. I'm partial to #2 just because it seems more unique, but they are all gorgeous. I would like to see what others think of them. Thank you!

so this weekend my mother was telling me that my brother's fiance isn't speaking to her. my brother's fiance is going to be one of my bridesmaids. my mother wouldn't tell me why she wasn't speaking to her, and my mother was very upset over this. in tears, etc. so i finally got it out of my mother why my brother's fiance was not speaking to her......
she was upset because i am having gift baskets to give away as prizes at my bridal shower and she thinks that this was HER idea for HER shower and i was stealing her ideas! like wtf! doesn't everyone give away gift baskets as prizes for a bridal shower?!?
she was also mad that i chose navy blue as my bridesmaid dress color and SHE is having an ice blue color. so she thinks that i am copying her on this factor too! i chose navy because it is my favorite color! not because she is having a different shade of blue.
so my brother's fiance called me and told me that she would not be participating in my wedding because i am copying....
