Ok, so I have been looking at really cute invitations online. Where the invitations are $2-3 each, the save the date cards are only 1.50 each. My wedding will be small (50 or less) and casual so I like the simplicity of the save the date cards.

What do you think think of getting save the date cards.. but instead of saying invitation to follow, just saying "details are enclosed" and printing the details on cardstock my self... that way I get pretty invites but don't spend as much?

Also, second question... the wedding will be 3 hour drive for more than half of those attending... how early should i send out invitations...

My future son in law wants me to dance with him for the mother son dance because his mother will not be in attendance. We have become quite close, but the traditional from the time you were little songs just do not apply. Any help you can give on this would be great!

I'm writing my wedding vows. Is it formal to let the bride to be see them before the wedding? Are we supposed to compare each others first?

Getting married in Dec. Have been married before and he hasn't. I have a 13 y/o son whom we included in the announcement and will live with us. Here are my ?'s.
His family is having a shower for us in his hometown. (I know noone there). Is there anything I need to do? Should we have favors? I just feel a little weird showing up and not doing anything.
We will exchange vows in a small chapel with our parents and my son. What is proper for me to wear? He will be wearing a suit. I would like to wear some type of wedding dress but not the white, long, frilly type. Color?
I would like to have a "reception" type party with our friends at a later time. Could we do a wedding cake at that time? Favors? Is it even ok for us to do this? I feel weird about registering being that I have been married before. His family wanted us to do this so I did. I wasn't sure what to register for, I was married for a long time, he's been single and I feel we have what we will need to make a home

It's featured on the Wedding dresses page, the left pic of the hourglass shapes. If anyone happens to know who the designer is or where the dress could be found would be much appreciated! I'm getting married next June.
I know it's a long shot but I'll try! Thanx

I am getting married in about 1 1/2 to 2 years. I hate planning things because I can get so stressed for the smallest things. I wanted to know how much might I need to hire a wedding planner? I want a wedding of about 100-120 people.

A friend of mine is designing bridesmaids dresses for my wedding (well, planned in the future). She was interested and I gave her the go ahead (She said she wouldn't be insulted if we decided to buy other dresses, she just likes to do this as fun and I've seen her designs and she's really good.) Now, would it cost more to have 4 dresses made or bought. What if the dresses were made out of a cheaper material (although looking really nice), would this be something to look into?

I was curious if anyone knew how to register at different stores at theknot.com website.... we don't want to register with macys and it seems thats the only option.. or am I missing something? Is it also possible to register with and electronics store like Best Buy?
We also are not sure how to address the type of attire we would like folks to wear. we dont want people showing up in jeans and t-shirts, although we don't want people to feel obliged to go out and buy suites. Any idea or how to word that? Thanks!

This has been the hardest part of planning our wedding. Can anyone recomend any good resorts from the US to Mexico? We are looking for something that offers a private jazuzzi if all possible.

The Poconos are out....we arent interested in that location. Vegas is out since in the summer it is way toooo hot. We thought about taking the seven day land and sea cruise with Disney World but is not fair to my daughter who has never been before. Hawaii is out since it is overly expensive.

I appreciate every advice that is offered to us!

Just wondering what the normal protocal is.... My shower was September 15 and I am still getting them out in shifts... I have been traveling like crazy and it is like the endless task. I intend to get every single last one out but my wedding is this weekend and I wonder if it is offensive for people to get my thank you note from the shower, the same week of my wedding?

My maids asked me if they'll need to stand or kneel during the entire ceremony. I'm a recent convert and have never actually attended a Catholic wedding--so I have no idea!

My fiance and I are getting married privately December 2007 and we have decided to not have a BIG traditional reception after party like we had planned, so we have decided to come up with another way to have fun and still receive nice gifts from our family and friends. We thought about a Housewarming, but we re moving into an Apartment and its not big enough to fit all our family and friends, then we thought about calling it a Post Marriage Party, something of that sort, we just need some ideas of what to title the party...

And What are some ideas to have at the party, we want it to be non traditional but FUN, we thought about ticket raffling, different games, and we also need a theme. Its a party for about 80 ppl at the most. Pls help us we need your help????

My fiance recently brought up pre-marital counseling and suggested we look into it. His main reasoning was that we should think/talk about things like children. He proposed to me after 9 years of dating, and we will have been together (living together also) for 10 years at the time of the wedding. After all the research I've done, I cannot seem to find any bases that would be covered in this session that we have either not covered already or are not capable of covering on our own. While many people say 'what have you to lose', I can't help but think 'oh, about $300 that could go toward the event that we are paying for with no help and saving for while he finishes college. I love him dearly, and will do whatever he needs- so if he says this is important, it is what we will do. However, I need to know that this is the best use of our hard-earned money. It is not easy for a fresh college grad to save for a wedding while supporting her graduate student fiance.

...anymore? And that most people are ok with this? Giving a couple a gift and getting no thank you in return?

Call me selfish, but I would think less of a couple who did not send thank yous.

It's one of the groom's men, but things have gotten really weird with him lately. My fiance and I also feel he's developed feelings for me that he shouldn't have. We've tried talking to him,but we're not on good terms right now.

I feel horrible about this, but I want to see if this is common. I do know three people that have had problems like this in their weddings.

ok. I have been dating this guy on and off for a while. The only reason why we are on and off so much because he lives in a different state and i can only see him on the holidays when he comes down here to visit his mom and brother. I love him sooooo much and he says he loves me, and i do believe it really is love. I know 16 is young and all to love someone. Last night we were on the phone and he said he was gonna marry me someday, and he was gonna ask me to marry him next time i saw him. He said we didn't have to get married too soon. We could wait a while. But my question is what should I do...? I've seen girls my age get married exactly at 16. Their marriage is working out fine. I don't know how to break it to my mom how much i care for him && that i want to marry him. Its all a big blur. I don't know!!! Someone help me.

I found "the dress" except the train is longer than I want for the smaller wedding we are having. Is it possible for a seamtress to hem the length of the train, making it a sweep instead of a chapel length?

I'm 20 and getting married in the end of January. All of my friends are off to college and I dont really have any close relatives. My sister lives 9 hours away from me and I doubt my mom would throw me one. My sister just got married and I threw her one, my church threw her one, her husbands church threw her one, and her mother in law & aunts in law threw her one. I dont mean to have a pity party but.. seriously... no one is going to throw a bridal party for me. I think that is really depressing and sad!! I know its not the focal point of getting married... but wouldnt that make you sad? So how tacky would it be if I lined one up? I don't know how much I like the idea of doing that but uhhhh.... I just wish I had family that cared about me... what do you think?

Ok my wedding is in the middle of this November.... And I'll be sending out the thank you cards sometime in December. Would it be tacky to include something like happy holidays, or any reference to the holidays at all? We usually send holiday cards, but thought it might be nice to bundle them together this year. But then I started thinking maybe people will think it's tacky, trying to kill 2 birds with one stone by putting the wedding thank you and the happy holidays? What do you think? THANKS!
