My answer is the same as most of the ones who already answered. The year will be 2013, because of 2008 being a leap year. I listed my source below, but I actually already knew that because October 12 is my birthday! :-)
I have to say, although it would make it romantic if you got married on that day, it would also mean you would have to wait a LOONG time to get married. Also, you would be cheating yourself out of an anniversary! The two of you need to sit down and decide what time of year, what type of wedding (indoor, outdoor) and the location of your wedding, and then pick your wedding date based on that. But, if you decide that having the wedding on that date is what will make the two of you the happiest, then decide how important it is to you to have the wedding on a Saturday. Honestly, Saturday weddings are THE most expensive days, because EVERYONE wants to have their wedding on a Saturday. If you can figure out a way to have it on 10/12, but NOT on a Saturday, you will be saving yourselves a lot of time and money!
I wish you both the absolute best!!!

2008 is a leap year. In a leap year, the date will jump forward 2 days from this year's Oct 12. This means that, since Oct 12th was on a Friday this year, October 12 will be on a Sunday in 2008.
The next Oct 12 on a Saturday will be in 2013 as a result.
In an ordinary year, any day on the calendar will be one day later. Say July 4 was on a friday one year. The next year, it will be on Saturday. But, if you have a leap year, you add two days to the calendar date and you'll be one day beyond what you want. So, since Oct 12, 2007 was a Friday, Oct 12, 2008 will be a Sunday.

You don't have to wait until it is on a Saturday. My husband and I just got married on October 12 this year. The date was important to us, because it is my birthday, and my mom got married on her birthday. We decided to try to start a tradition out of it. 10-12 this year was a Friday. We had a destination wedding that worked out perfectly for all of our guests, and we are having a bigger reception for our friends and family this Saturday. These days, it is more common to see people get married on days other than Saturday.
Besides, 10-12 won't fall on Saturday until 2013.
Oh, and in response to a previous poster neither I, nor my Mom, feel that it cheats you out of a birthday. We feel it was our best birthday ever, and that it makes each following one even sweeter!

Hi. It's not until 2013!! Because leap year is next year (2008) it pushes everything up by one year....so you will have to wait a long time if you want that date!
