Only through datings or just being arranged by parents?

There are different ways for different people. Sometimes people just meet someone out in public, they start talking, and then start dating. I met my husband on the Internet. Unless a family is very old-fashioned or from another country, I don't know any Americans who have had an arranged marriage. Sometimes, though, friends or family might tell two people they should meet eachother because they think they would make a good couple. A sort of family and friend matchmaking.

in some american family they still do practice some arranged marriage to thier children. However, most of marriage is started through dating the person and getting to know them before they get marriage

rarely - almost never - arranged by parents (those that are tend to be of Indian descent or another recent immigrant culture)

dating is the most common route. Families can be active parts of the marriage ceremonies, or not.
