I am getting married 08 but have been planning since we got engaged in 06. Weddings take time and money! Get what you can done know! Less stress later! I have everything booked but the cake. This all has been done since the beginning of the year! I did a lot of price checking and bargaining. Plus if you book know you get this years prices. All wedding price's go up every year and packets change, things go out of style!
I am glad I have had so much time to plan! I have had time to save money! Plus I have saved money by bargain shopping.
Best wishes in planning your special day!

I am getting married 02/27/09. We are getting married at Beaches Boscobel in Jamaica. I have sent out the Save the dates and have picked the colors (Tan and palm beach coral). 2009 is not really that far away. Think about it, January 1, 2008 is less than 3 months away! Planning a wedding way in advance will allow you to save for things to be exactly how you want them to be! You do not have to rush and you can take your time. Look at wedding magazine and get ideas, call areound and see how much things will be when it is time for your big day. You'll be happy you waited because your bill won't hurt your pockets as much, cause you had money saved!

lol, im getting married this sunday and trust me, you can never start planning too early. Do as much of the big stuff as you can cause once you move on to the little things, there will be a million things you didn't think of!!!! Find you dress, know what flowers you want, whose doing you cake, your photographer, videographer, etc etc. All these things take a lot of time cause so many people want to have a conselltation with you before they quote you how much they will charge you. Be sure to shop around cause everything is gonna add up. I found with my wedding, all the little things ($100 here, $150 there) is what is making me break my budget. Also, be crafty and do as much yourself as you can. For example, going to rental places to find decorations for the church can be VERY expensive. I cut down some small trees in the winter (so they had no leaves) and spray painted them all gold.
Like, I said, to start now may seem early but when you're in the last months before your wedding, you'll be SO thankful you started then!!

I am looking at a date in 2009.
For me, it is very important that I get the date I want at a nice reception place so I'm starting early. I have family that would need to travel and want to avoid certain annual events during other months of the year so in order to be sure I get my intended wedding date, I'm starting now!
2008 isn't far off and from there its only a little more than a year to go!

You can pick out your basics. What colors? What flowers? Etc.
Keep in mind when you are choosing something really trendy it may be "cliche" by the time 2009 rolls around so I wouldn't actually make a purchase.
Most locations will not let you sign contracts or put down deposits until 12 months in advance but they are always happy to give out quotes.

Not technically engaged but when my bf and I go out places we are noting things we would and wouldn't want to have when we get married. Neither wants a long engagement so pretty much once he's able to relocate (the job market sucks right about now) shortly there after we will be, so probably in 2009.
When out shopping sometimes he sneaks into jewelry stores and takes me back to look at rings and the etc. We've talked about dresses on-line, flowers, favors, venues etc.

8 years feels like a protracted time to attend in case you have been with the comparable guy or woman for that long. I dont see tips about a thank you to appreciate "for fact" which you would be getting married in 2009 in case your boyfriend has no longer even asked you yet. i does not initiate making plans your wedding ceremony till he asks you to marry him.
