Do you have to be married a certain amount of time to do this or go through some kind of hardship? Just curious.

My cousin recently had her exboyfriend visit from South Carolina, while visiting he made some rude comments about me and I found out. I confronted my cousin about this and of course she said the things he said were taken out of context and I eventually settled with not liking him but getting over it. I come to find out that my aunt is bringing him as her date to my wedding! The reasoning is my cousin has switched sides and is bringing her girlfriend to the wedding and now is confused and likes the ex also! Because she knows she can’t have two dates they thought this was the way to have both ex and current fling attend the wedding. I made it clear to my cousin that I did not like him and I didn’t want him coming to my wedding, I did not invite him. My aunt, which is my favorite aunt called my mom and asked why he was not aloud to come to the wedding, that she was aloud to bring what ever guest she chose. I did not include a guest on her invite because she is single. What do I do?

I decided that my husband & I will skip the ceremony and just attend the wedding. How rude do ya'll think that is? Mind you, this is a guy friend of mine whom I speak to rarely & I plan on bringing a nice gift. I just can't spend an entire day out of town with animals at home and school work to attend to.

A friend of mine has a cousin that is getting married for the 2nd time. The 1st wedding was very extravagant and my friend bought them a very nice gift. We are confused as to the etiquette of 2nd weddings... Do you buy them a gift? What is proper?

What was the setting? and time of day?

Something like this:

My parents got engaged at a quiet park, sitting on a rock, next to a lake.

Hopefully you could elaborate more then i can, seeing as how i wasnt there, but that is the general idea.

best answer to my favorite answer.

we are going to get married at the justice of the peace. i've already spoken to them about having guests and they said no problem. whats the maximum # of people we should invite? we know we can't have too many, the "ceremony" will only last about 10/15 minutes. but afterwards we would like to have guests meet us for lunch at a nice restauraunt. my honey and i will break away, go do our own thing the rest of the day. go have dinner, and then meet up with friends again at a dave and busters kind of thing to party. then i'm thinking we can rent a hotel for the night. this is the idea i have in mind for our wedding day. i would like to have as many people as i can without looking crazy! do you have different ideas in mind? we're trying to keep this casual, cheap, but fun. i don't mind paying for the dinner thing.....i just want more ideas...thanks for any help!!!

I don't know if there's a protocol regarding this. The lady helping me out has been a godsend and I'd be embarassed if a tip is encouraged or expected and I'm unaware of this.

My wedding is outdoors in June. The reception could be moved inside if the weather is bad, but not the ceremony. Tents are incredibly expensive at the rental places andI would hate to spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars on a tent and not end up using it. Any cheaper alternatives, you crafty people? Thanks!

Some baptist churches require us both to be baptist, some catholic churches require us both to be catholic. The ones that do not care about our religion as long as we believe in the same God (aka the Non Denominational) will not marry us because we live together.

Anyway, other then Eloping and Justice of the Peace ... any other suggestions? ( and I feel horrible about lying to the Reverend)

I am planning to throw a bridal shower and it seems that the best option will be to do in a restaurant or some kind of catering hall facility. Should I be paying for everyone's food + decoration+ invitations , etc?
