I don't think it's exactly appropriate either. It's not like you're starting a new life with this man, with a new house or anything, and that's the main reason for a shower. You don't need anyone to shower you with gifts. Congrats on the renewing of your vows though. It's sweet. :)

Sorry, but after 11/14 years, I don't think it's appropriate. Bridal showers are traditionally meant to replace dowries, and later came to be presents to help the bride set up her new home. If it's just a renewal, it'll look a bit greedy and strange.

It's understandable that you want to do something with your friends to celebrate your impending nuptials. You should host a bridal tea or lunch. :-)

No, you should not have a bridal shower when you renew your vowes. A bridal shower is given to help a couple get started. and after l4 years of marriage you probably have every thing you need.

NO!

IT IS NOT APPROPRIATE AT ALL!

Phew... sorry, but married couples cannot have a bridal shower. The purpose of a bridal shower is to impart knowledge on the naive, ignorant girl on her upcoming wifely duties. You have 11 years of experience as a wife, so no... not appropriate.

But, if a friend wants to host a tea... or an open house...

I think it's great that you are renewing your vowes! I know after 11/14 years, you desirve to have what every bride wants, the attention! J/K But I think that it is a good idea to have something small and simple. You could go for themes that set the age that you first got together. You could do many different things. If you and a bunch of your friends wanted to go out for drinks or something of that nature, that's fine. Or have it at your home. Either way, just enjoy this time and congrats on renewing and good luck!

Not appropriate because you already got married and you already have the essentials for your home. If you missed out on the fun the first time around, why not treat your friends to a girls day- you could go to a spa.... wait, your "bowes"? Is this real?

It is never appropriate to throw a shower for yourself, this just makes it look like you are asking for presents. If someone else wants to throw a shower for you then that is fine but if you have to ask them to host the shower than that would be out of line for a vow renewal.

No. It is totally not appropriate to give a wedding shower for someone who is already married.

Actually, it's not even really appropriate for you to be having a re-run wedding, unless it's a religiously-required, modest church blessing WITHOUT all the typical wedding frills.

No, a bridal show is inappropriate.
Buy the way you are renewing your vows not you bowes!

I think its a bit tacky because you are already married and people most likely gave you a gift when they heard you got married the first time.
