My mother and I don't have the best relationship ever but we still talk and what not, and when I got engaged she offered to pay for the wedding and everything even for my dress. Well when it came down to me buying my dress she was nowhere to be found so now I have to buy that myself. I want to get this wedding planned already and she keeps saying that she needs more time to get money together. ( she has the money she makes more than enough ) Im not even wanted that big of a wedding but everytime I go to plan it she makes up excuses and I have to push the date back I have had to do this at least four times already. I just want to get married already. I know the grooms family pays for the alcohol but I don't want an open bar so should I ask my fiancee' to talk with his parents and see if they will help us out with some of it and us pay for some as well?? I REALLY NEED HELP WITH THIS. I just want to get married already and my mom is making things very hard on us.

what are her "duties" as her sisters maid of honor?

Your best friend is going to be your maid of honor. However, you don't know her fiance all THAT well.. but you know it would mean alot to her if he was there, regardless of the fact that it is YOUR wedding. I'd like to have him there, but would you invite him to the wedding, and if so, how? Thanks

I'm getting married at our local courthouse. It will just be me and my fiance. And his mom as our witness.
There won't be a big ceremony either. We'll probably go out and eat and that's about it.
We're planning our big wedding for next year (2008).

I haven't bought my dress yet. And i am not planning on buying a big expensive wedding gown. I want something simple like a white or ivory prom dress, evening gown or social dress. Doesn't really matter what it's called.

But i was wondering if it would be ok if i go pick out a dress with my fiance. Since it won't be a traditional wedding anyway....

Say you want to get engaged to your girlfriend, you need to know more about her, what questions should be asked, to see she is the right one for you?

I am 23 and my boyfriend is 24, we have been together for 2 years and moved to a different state on our own, and have our own place. He is my absolute best friend, we talk about anything and everything, we do everything together. We have talked about our own goals and dreams and we both want many of the same things. We have talked marriage and I am SOO excited if/when he does decide to propose. But part of me is kind of scared too, how can I be sure he is the one? Can I be sure? Is it normal to have some doubts (I really don't want to say 'doubts' I guess I just mean...is it normal to have some questions of whether he is the right one for the rest of my life)? How did you feel before you got married or engaged? What was your relationship like? Thanks in advance for everyone's advice

Since they already have a VERY good idea we are planning this:

Should we tell our parents of destination wedding upon first meeting; they never met before .... tell them of our plans at first meeting?

My fiance and I have recently decided to have a destination wedding and not invite ANYONE, including our parents.

My parents divorced over 20 years ago and still HATE each other. Both have re-married since then. My fiance's parents are still married and would really like us to have a TRADITIONAL wedding, as would my mother and my grandmother.

While they have an idea of our plans, we are thinking of having them (my mother and stepfather and his parents) meet for the first time for dinner and announce our wedding plan.

We think that they are less likely to get overly upset in the presence of future in-laws, and this will allow them to let the news settle in for a little while.

Is this an ambush to spring it on them like this, or a good idea, so we don't get a guilt trip?

What are the typical songs played through out the ceremony. I never paid attention and now I have to tell my pianist what I want. I don't have any desire to be different...and I need suggestions for a song she can actually sing as well.

They barely know this girl, see her at the kid's birthday parties. 3-4 times a year, until she moved out of state. She just found out that they called her sister in law for her address, her parents and her sister's address. Rule of thumb, if you don't have their address---they must not be close....don't invite them! Anyway, my friend doesn't want to go and she doubts her parents or sister will want to go. She's wondering if she should talk to her brother and his wife about it, so that they can explain this to her family? Or if she should just decline when the invites come? Another thought would be decline the shower--but ship a shower gift (from the family)....and decline the wedding? But I don't see why they would even have to go that far. Jeeeez, are people that desperate for gifts? Any thoughts on this? I say decline both, don't send gifts and don't worry about people you barely know.

is it proper to inlcude something in the invitation to give the bride/groom something as a money tree or include a link for donations to a disney vacation for the bride/groom & children?
they really don't need anything as they've been together 9 years, two children and already have home.

My wedding is going to be in Spain but we are going to live in New Zealand. Is is rude to remind people of that fact and ask them to take it into consideration when getting us a present? I don´t want to seem rude but if more than 70 people gives us something I don´t know what we could do to send them all over...

Our wedding is set for August 1, 2007. We're having a small intimate wedding with approximately 75 guests. How do I let our guests know about our registries?

I have read you shouldn't put it in the wedding invitation, but is it okay to include our registry locations along with our "save the date" cards we are sending out?
