Has anyone experienced or has known someone who has experienced wedding postpardum? Is there ways to prepare yourself or things you can do to avoid this?

Lots of people feel down after big events like babies, weddings, Christmas, big vacations, etc. This happens to me a lot, so I always try to plan something fun a few weeks after, like a weekend away or a dress up dinner at a really nice restaurant or something. Then, there is something to look forward to after. Good luck!

It will probably happen no matter what you do but by knowing what it is you'll be better able to deal with it. Planning a wedding and getting married is like a high and once its over your just back to being you and not the centre of attention you can be difficult because its been such a big part of your life for a long period time its hard to just going back to being normal without a big event taking all your attention. Once its all over focus on your marriage and the man you chose to spend the rest of your life with and all the new and wonderful things you will experience with your new husband.
I have been married for 2 years now and love every second of it and it was a big change after the wedding but its just something you work through.

The time after the wedding is anti-climactic. It's normal to feel the blues, after all, all the excitement from planning and having a wedding is not something you do everyday. Now you are back in your normal mode and experiencing a different perspective. Focus on making new plans with your spouse; something else that is fun, exciting, and enjoyable. But also remember that marriage is good and bad, exciting and boring, predictable and totally unpredictable. Be prepared by knowing you are not alone in this.

they say this happens becuase you are so busy with planning and parties before the wedding, and after the wedding everything completely stops. No one pays attention to you anymore and no one really cares whats going on in your life. It all literally just stops! I think if you know that this will happen, you will be fine. Maybe keep planning a few outings with your friends to keep yourself busy. For my husband and I....we 100% welcomed the calm!

I have, and I'm still going through it. Just do your best to enjoy the day and take the time to have fun with it. It goes by so fast and before you know it all those months of planning is over in just a few short hours. Plan on getting your photos and video quickly so you'll remember more of what happened, it'll help.

There is actually a really good article in the latest Cosmopolitan that explains all about wedding postpartum.

Oh ya! I was so bummed out about parts of my wedding I refused to think about them. I still try to repress some of the memories! Its ok though, as long as you are happy with your hubby, remember that. Remind yourself why you married him and why you are so lucky to have him! Being married is awesome, I love every minute of it and we have been married for almost 2 years!

yeah - i was depressed after my wedding - the build-up and months of planning all end in one day & then you look at the guy & say, "this is who i married". it is quite scary - took me months to adjust to married life & conflicted feelings of wondering if i had made the right choice.

Are you talking about getting married after having a baby or about feeling depressed about getting married?

Postpartum means after childbirth.
