I'm getting married at our local courthouse. It will just be me and my fiance. And his mom as our witness.
There won't be a big ceremony either. We'll probably go out and eat and that's about it.
We're planning our big wedding for next year (2008).

I haven't bought my dress yet. And i am not planning on buying a big expensive wedding gown. I want something simple like a white or ivory prom dress, evening gown or social dress. Doesn't really matter what it's called.

But i was wondering if it would be ok if i go pick out a dress with my fiance. Since it won't be a traditional wedding anyway....

Or should i go with his mom instead?

She's like my best friend. I get along with her very well!

I wouldn't be bringing your fiance* It doesn't matter what kind of dress you'll be wearing or even if you'll be doing the "Big" wedding next year........You are getting Married* for the First time* DON"T Let Him See the Dress until you go to get married*
Best Wishes*
Yes bring his mom* That's kewl you're both close* :) BEST WISHES

Traditionally, the man doesn't see the wedding dress until the ceremony. It's part of the whole thing about grooms not seeing brides before the wedding. I did a traditional wedding and we did pictures beforehand, so he saw me.

I would ask yourself this, is that an activity that he would enjoy? My husband would rather die than go dress shopping, but he did help pick out the cake, and had a good time at it too. If your husband likes to shop, then go for it.

I would go with your mom instead of your fiance. Even though it is not a traditional wedding, the element of suprise that your fiance will feel when he first sees you in your dress on your wedding day is irreplaceable. Also, your mom might be a bit crushed to not be able to shop with her girl for her first wedding dress, even if it's not going to be a big wedding, or the only wedding.

It's YOUR wedding and you can do whatever you want. If a tradition is holding you back, then feel free to dump it and make your own rules.

Besides, I always heard the tradition was that he couldn't see you in the dress the DAY OF the wedding... before the day didn't matter.

I did. We had a Vegas wedding and I went to a department store with my fiance and he actually picked out my dress. He picked out a really cute black cocktail dress that I loved! And it was only $50! If you are having a small wedding, I dont see anything wrong with it at all.

My fiance went with me to help %. out the costume and the bridemaids outfits too. He had some large recommendations. The costume I picked on the save became the incorrect shade and huge on me. So he purely sort of observed it i assume. issues have substitute alot. the marriage is concerning the couple besides, in the event that they are mushy approximately it then this is okay. all of it approximately what you like and the form you like it. The bride ought to have the individuals there that they want there.

Go with his mom so you'll at least have the thrill of him not seeing you in your dress until the day of. I know that doesn't really mean that much, but it is nice give him a little surprise on the big day. Congratulations!

Invite whomever your feel will give you the best assistance.

Traditions are made to be broken, go ahead and do what you want. It's your and your fiance's wedding.

good luck

I would take his mom or a good friend that would tell you if a dress looked good or bad on you.

I don't understand- Who cares if he comes- and why even bother with a dress, just wear something you have if your going to redo the whole thing next year.
