If you keep it to the major stores, they will figure it out too, by looking on the internet.
Make sure that your close family & friends know, guests will ask them too.

It is more than okay to put it on the save the date notices. Most save the date cards now have an added line to inform guests of your registries.

You can place registry information in your Bridal Shower invitations. A Bridal Shower is meant to "shower the bride" with gifts and proper wedding etiquette states that it is perfectly acceptable to do so. Also your maid of honor, your mother and your soon to be mother-in-law have the job of telling people where you are registered.

When people want to know they should ask your family or friends. Also its only considered proper etiquette to add registry information to a shower invitation if someone other then you or your fiancee is hosting the shower. And is traditionally not correct to add it to the save the date card either.

Go to theknot.com...
Seriously-I make a wedding web page that didn't take long at all and then at the bottom of the page, there is a place for registries, etc...It also has a save the date feature...theknot.com has saved my life so far! Good luck!

If you know for a fact that no one is throwing you a shower, then yes, you can mostly definitely put your registry details in your save the date cards.

Registry can be included in shower invitations, but that is it.
With that small a group, word of mouth will be suffcient.
Registrys are to help the guests, if they want it, and if they want it they will ask.
