I think that it is an excellent idea if you have many guests traveling from out of town, to have the wedding on or near a holiday. The guests have an easier time getting time off of their jobs to travel, and there are lots of opportunities from them to celebrate and see lots of family and friends on the holiday.

I think your reception would stink because most people have to work on good Friday... And it would be hard to attend a Thursday wedding.

You mean Holy Thursday? If you want it to be at a Catholic Church it might be a problem. Not that your particular Parish won't do it. I know you are not allowed flowers on the Altar or any kind of decoration at the church during Lent.
