Family - September 2007

My Daughter is 16 and doing lots of things that 16 year olds shouldnt be doing. She's drinking & smoking, staying out all night, trying to date 23 year olds. Her and I have been very close thru the years and have been thru alot . She is very open with me , heck she still calls me mommy. I do love her dearly and have sat down many times and talked with her about the things shes doing. She tells me I don't understand .
I've went to get her from where shes been ( at different places), I've grounded her and even while grounded she stayed out all night at a guys house and came home with hickies all over.When I was calling looking for her she had the guy lie to me and say he hadn't seen her. I feel like that was just a slap in my face. Her dad and I aren't together and he's kind of mean, so I only told him about the one incident . He came over and was kind of abusive, but she did straighten up for about a day. My question is what can I do next ? Do I report her as a runaway Any Advice???

I just bought a house. I looked at this house once with my fiance when we were doing better, BUT he does not know that I made and offer, they accepted and it just closed escrow this week bc my fiance and I are not getting along well at all now and I want to continue to live in my place and he in his. I haven't told him about the house because he calls it "our" dream home. I think that this is not the time. He thinks we, my 14 yr. old son and I, should try to work things out by moving in WITH HIM and his 14 yr. old daughter. (Remember, he doesn't know abt. the new house.) My fiance and my son are at odds, he now calls him untrustworthy and a liar because he quit football and didn't tell him--he was scared of him--I'm dishonest too, because I told my son to tell him himself, and my son evaded the issue and I didn't push him. His daughter hated my son (jealous) from day 1, so now he ignores her, and on, I want to quit, but, his temper is BAD. Do I tell him abt. the house or not?

He came into my room bitching and yelling because I went into the laundry room looking for a shirt to wear to school[yeah seriously],he broke my 200 dollar mp3 player speaker, stole the 20$ battries[rechargable] out of my camera, and then he threatened to take my camera.

I told him to get out of my room, and he got furious, and almost attacked me.

I kicked him in the nuts and ran.


am I at fault here people?

did you ever think there could be a evil person aka your mother how can you try to forget or release some of the anger you have towards her my father had died and she was seeing someone while my dad was sick and when he was sick she made him do all the errands.i mean how can a person deal with such a evil mother shes not my real mother either but shes done so much i just wish i knew what to do .she literaly had her new husban with in less then a mointh after my dad died.

A guy stole my passport and his parent found it in the backseat of his car. Now, I will have to pay 150 dollars to get it replaced because I already cancelled it. I am going to going to Germany in two weeks, so I contacted his parents and said that I would need the passport to be paid for or I would seek legal action. Am I being to rash, or should they pay for it? Right now, he is in Rehab, so they are the ones that would fit the bill. What should I do????

ok so my mom is turning 40 sept.15 and she has rules about buying her gift,nothing for the house,no clothes,no jewlery,no perfumes,no flowers,nothing expensive. My family lives in portugal and they can't come over or we can't go there either we don't have the $, my mom doesn't have friends either,so it's just me,my sister,my grama and my dad.
We already planed to go out for dinner and get her choclates and i booked a massage for her,bought her cake and candles,and a card but we need more help because those are all thing that she does WITH US,so they are not gifts FOR HER,and she realy deserves it,she also mentions alot that since it's her 40th birthday it should be special/different from the others,any idea?Oh and she doesn't want spa or bath stuff ,she's not into electronics or new technolagy,she doesn't cook and has no realy hobbie,she doesn't like it when we cook her breakfast because she only likes to eat ceral not like bacon and eggs kinda breakfast,i know it's hard but plz help!

My name is Sam, and I was adopted at 2 years old. my birth parents were abusive towards me and from that I guess I have anger problems. My dad (adoptive), Richards H. has raised me since then. He is like my real father, we go shopping together, read, travel, I even laugh just like him! But we do argue and sometimes we come to blows. Like once we got into about something stupid, and I ran away and he spent 3 days looking for me so I feel bad for doing that. he's a teacher and i go to the same one he teaches at and if I get in trouble at school he pops me on the back of my head in front of everyone and that upsets me. So once at home we physically fight. Another time I snuck out with my friends to this drug house ad was doing drugs. He again looked for me and he physically fought two of the dudes at this drug house to get me back. I in return hit him. I know I'm stressing him out and he's slowing starting back to being a alchoholic because of me. I need help, and advice.

Since meeting her new boyfriend, my sister in law has been into drugs (&legal trouble) for the last two years. (She lives far away and has limited/no mean to contact us). However, my mother-in-law keeps asking us when we are going to share our pregnancy news with her. I don't understand why my MIL keeps asking us when she cannot deal with her daughter and draws all kinds of boundaries with her. Is it wrong for us not wanting any contacts with them going forward? If not, how long should this isolation last? The lastest news that we received about the sister is she married the guy in jail. (this is quite sad b/c she has child from her last marriage, and now we are concern about how she and this new marriage affect this child)

This is complicated, bear with me. A couple of years ago I found my birth fathers family - he was dead, but I found 2 half brothers and a half sister.
All has been fine untill this summer when my half sister brought her 5 children to stay with us for a holiday - they are between 5 and 17 .
They basically wrecked the house, they refused to eat at the table and would only eat crisps and chips, they threw knives at each other (in the end we had to lock them away), would'nt flush toilets ( whatever was in there) and swore constantly.
She claims 2 of them have ADHD, but I noticed that they can sit at a computer or TV screen for a couple of hours happily. Because of this she refuses to discipline them and laughs at their behaviour. She has also spread some nasty rumours about me to my birth family, they don't believe them, but won't allow her to be confronted.
I really don't want her back again but don't want to fall out with my brothers. Help!

I was raised by bypolar people (stepmom) people more concerded with there signifigant others than me (father) and by someone who cared for me very deeply (Mom)
Heres how it happend
when I was 8 my parents got divorced because my dad cheated. Then he met a woman who was bypolar and was quite the pill popper. One day she loved me the next day she couldn't stand any of us her kids me my sister and my father family meeting were basically well scarey they never hit us but it diDn't feel like they were far from it.
My Mom was devestated she cried alot I later found out my father tried to choke her when she found receipts from a hotel in his pocket he ended up letting her go I still feel horrible for my reaction "Don't talk about my Dad like that"!
My Dad and his GIRLFRIEND tried to make us not like our Mom any fight we had they tried to make us think she loved me or my sister more.6 years into this hell and My mom was diagnosed with terminal cancer.to be continued what can I DO?

Hello,
They have planned 2 wedding and at the last minute he canceled both times. Last time the dress was bought and the shower was planned. The deal breaker was that he changed his mind about having kids. He does have a 15 year old although never married the mother. He has never been married. My problem is two things. My brother and sister in law are going to flip out if they even new she was seeing him again.. two. all of a sudden he has decided he wants kids. I don't have faith that he will not change his mind again. They are planning to go to run away in 2 weeks. All the family has said that if she ever even thought about getting together with him she would have to choose him or her family. That is not the case with me as I would not turn my back on her. I am the only one that knows this information. I can't sleep worried that she is ruining her life. Two facts. He make a med living so she will have to work and he is a ok guy. I have never totally connected with him.. Help!

a year ago she had to move back in w/mom & dad-she had a bad relationship that ended because of drugs. she was broke and had no place to go she called said she needed help she'd been ditched @ a hotel. of course i dropped everything and my daughterinlaw and i went to pick her up and bring her home to safety. my husband agreed to let her stay and not have a job...if she helped around the house. she only does what she wants when she wants, and if some one wakes her before she's ready foul things come out of her mouth. she has called me a stupid ***** who's retarded, regularly. mostly the hostility seems directed towards me. she and her father do just fine. i don't know how much more i can take. it looks like a happy marriage of 30 plus years is going out the window, because i see no end in sight except me leaving-she won't-she is 24years old

she and her daugther got into argument where she had to kicked her out-she's 18. now her daugther came to me and I took her in. now her mother is spreading rumors saying i am manipulating her daugther. Her daugther knew about her cheating on her husband and bringing her men to her home with her daughter to see. I sent her a letter and called her a whore and now she wants to sue me for harrasment or slander. does she have a case? I know all about her affair.

She and her family are here from San Francisco (I'm in L. A), they planned on leaving later on this afternoon but the 16 yr old daughter found out that there's a gathering at a park near her house today and wants to leave early. Her family still wants to stay. Do you think they should just leave early to accomodate their daughters request knowing she only found out late last night? We don't see them often and planned to prepare nice lunch and all for them. Please give answer as we compromised that what ever answers we get that will be the decision.
