The truth. Why are you making such a girly crisis out of this? Think he hasn't heard this before? I will take a guess, though - he's being tough on you, making you work hard in order to get your licence, and you think you are entitled to a walk in. Good luck. I think you're going to need it.

You could cancel and say at this point your not sure you want to continue lessons as although he seems like a nice person you feel there is a clash of personalities that your unable to cope with. Thank him for his time and then say goodbye.
Or you could just cancel and say that you will no longer be taking lessons as the cost is becoming to much for you at the moment. Thank him for his time then say goodbye.
It is better to be honest but you don't have to be nasty with it, I would imagine if he is that bad that you will not be the only one cancelling, so don't feel bad about it.
Good luck.

Tell him you feel your not progressing as much as you want to so want to try another instructor.
Be honest and polite but remember you'll gain nothing by slagging him off, telling he wasn't any good, etc.
To be fair this is his work and you shouldn't cancel a lesson at such short notice, that's unprofessional as he has no chance of booking anyone else now when he might have turned others away because you had booked that slot.

i had this problem, i just told my instructor that i felt i wasnt grasping the concept of driving, and thus id decided to stop learning. he tried to talk me round, but i just said that i needed a break from it all, and that id get back in touch if i wanted to start learning again. that was in october 2006 and after a short break and lessons from a better instructor, i passed in january 2007.
good look petal
and good luck for the test, when you take it too!!xxx

Tell Him you have hit a finacial problem and you can't afford lessons for a while so you'll have to have a break but you will let you know when you can get back into your lessons then it'll be easier to let him down rather than telling him you don't like him cos no one like to hear that!

Tell him he is no good, and driving you insane, and you want a new one!
You are the customer and should not feel bad if your supplier is not delivering what you are paying for.
By phoning tomorrow, you are giving plenty of notice and being as fair as you can.

simply tell him you mean no offence to him or anything but you just aren't learning with his methods and need to try other ways with a different instructor....
if that is too difficult to say however.........
you've suddenly become a rampant green party representative and from now on will walk/cycle everywhere and steer clear of those digusting apparatuses commonly known as "cars"..............?
i think the latter will work :)
good luck! :)
