My mom is soo overbearing. I'm 17 and its killing me how overbearing she is. I dont have a life. She's over it. She's telling me what college I'll go to, what my major will be, what age I need to get married...etc. How can I tell her to BACK OFF. I know this sounds kind of mean, but I need to live my own life a little bit.

My parents are in the process of divorcing, my father was physically abusive and verbally to my mother, and verbally to me and my sister. I also believe my mom is verbally abusive though I don't want to say it, she tells me almost everyday how worthless, selfish, ugly, I am and how cold I am and how everyone in my family doesn't like me and how she doesn't like me and rarely she hits me like today. I don't think I can keep living like this, and I don't want to leave my little sister or dog behind, but I'm begininng to think I should move in with my older sister. Now how would this work? And would I have to tell anyone how my mom is? I'm almost fifteen years old and my sisters twenty six. I'm kind of hesitant about this all and not 100% sure what I'm going to do, but I need some feedback, and advice, and some idea of what would happen. Thankyou.

I am in a mess. I was living with my hubby and my 22 month old in a sweet world of my own. I thought why not utilise this free time I have and I joined a correspondence course so that I will be employable by the time my toddler begins schooling. I study when my toddler sleeps. Recently my mother in law moved in to stay with us. She has been abused by her husband for the last 35 years. She has also taken it all silently like some dumb cow. Last time when it happened, her younger son decided it was enough and brought her to live with us. Ever since she has come, she has been keeping this sad face around the house. I've tried my best to cheer her up. I basically don't like her as I like women with guts. She expects us women to treat our husbands as Gods. She doesn't like it when my man helps me around in the house. Now MIL has taken over my baby by bringing her all sweets, chocolates, juices, lays etc. I rarely give her all that as I don't consider junk good for her.

I am deaf and physcially challenged. I also weigh less than 100 pounds. Note that I'm a 15 year old male.

Because of my disability, my mother used to give me pocket money. She has three jobs. She stopped giving me money after I took a girl out one night.

She said, " John, I know you are seeking for a girl, which you won't find. I do not want you to spend my hard earned money on women who will not accept you for who you are. And believe me, son, you won't find what you are search for."

Seems as if Mom is correct, because I am a virgin at age 25.

I told Mom that my SSI paycheck is too small and that I would like to work, at least give myself a try.

She said, " John, be satisfied of what you have today. They're worse than you in this world. Mom doesn't want you to work, anf I'll buy whatever you want; just give me time."

I told Mom that I am going to join the deaf group to see if I could find a girl that would love me.

My dad knows I haven't started my summer reading yet, and he asks "How's 'Guns Germs and Steel'?" With a really obnixious tone of voice. Then "When are you going to start?" And I said, "I'll get on that tonight". And he says "Well, Kels, you've got to get something going for you." in an angry tone. Ouch.

I'd prefer if he didn't use that obnoxious tone he uses everytime. Do your parents ask you things like that, or do they just say straight out say it? Do you think that last thing he said to me was too harsh?

We recently moved to the same small town as my husbands parents. I have always gotten along well with his mother. Now that we live in the same town she will stop over to visit at times she knows I am busy (getting dinner ready and getting ready for work), they will make plans to eat at our house or for us to come over to their place to cook out w/o ever mentioning it to me. They inform me of what we're doing. She smokes and I don't want anyone smoking around my baby. She thinks her husband doesn't know she smokes and so when they visit she goes in out bathroom -which does not have a fan-and smokes every 20 minutes. She will stop by my job and if i'm not there she will interrogate other employees about my where abouts and why i'm not at work. My husband and I were going to look at a house we were thinking of buying. I mentioned it to her on the phone and told her we were going at 6pm. I did not tell her where the house was, only that it was down the main road from our house

So my 19yr. old (almost 20) brother recently moved in with us. We charge him $400.00/ month {$200.00/ paycheck} ~ This amount includes roof over his had, private bedroom (which we built just for him), food, heat/central air, water, hydro, laundry (plus the soap etc..), transportation to where ever he needs to go...including work, telephone with long distance, high speed internet, toiletries etc.. And also a maid basically (except for cleaning his room which is a mess)...but I do the dishes etc...

I'm a stay at home mom with 3 little kids (8, 5 1/2, and 2), so our family's finances are tight and cant afford to give him a "free ride", however today we got in a HUGE fight because he says he never has any money 'cause he gives it all to us and that people have told him we are charging too much especially for family... I think we are being more than generous considering we live in a university town and rooms (just a room!!) are going for like $400.00 to $650.00/month here. Who's wrong?

the Attorney General launched an investigation on kids father, well apparently he has falllen behind on payments becuase according to him they are threatening to garnish his income tax if he doesn't pay what is owed. Now normaly when something happens on the case i receive notification of such from the Attny. Gen. office, i have not in this case. My kids' father is constantly calling or texting me to get the attny gen off his case or i'll be sorry. I didn't pay much attention to this because...what can he possibly do right?? Well, i was wrong...see the boys are with him for the summer and he just called me to tell me that since i failed to get the attny gen off his case, he is keeping the kids.
My kids are 13 & 11 and i AM the custodial parent...so i know he can't just keep them, right?
Well i don't care bout being threatened personally but my kids are whole different matter...I called the police and filed a complaint against him. Did i over react? What do i do now?

She does not return my phone calls and when I finally did pin her down she said she was busy. I'm not sure if I should give her some space or continue to call her once a week or what. She denies anything is wrong but she is very protective of her dad. And seems to be angry now about a divorce that happened when she was four? Any advice?

A few years ago, I found out that the people I thought were my Mum and Dad were in fact my uncle and aunt-in-law; it appears that my biological parents were my uncle’s younger brother and sister.
I was born when my biological parents were 17 and 15 respectively, and in order to cover up the facts of my conception, my uncle and his wife took me in as one of their own and loved me as such.
Both my biological parents live close by, with my biological father working everyday alongside my Dad on the farm. I have always thought of my biological parents as my uncle and aunt, but now, I’ve no idea how they really feel about me – did they ever love me or did they just reject me.
I want to sit down with my biological parents and find out what happen. They still seem to have a very close relationship with each other, and I wonder if that would make it any easier for them to tell me. My point is, I don’t know how to approach this, is knowing a good idea or not – what should I do?

I am not a single parent but I am going out with a guy who has a son. He is not looking after his son and isn't financially supporting him either and he hasn't seen his son in about 2 years.

I just feel that it is wrong.
But I spose I shouldn't mess with other peoples business.

I think that he should offer financial support and look after his son and be a part of his life at least some of the tiime, like maybe the weekends.

It just feels wrong...

or am i being ignorant?

My mom is a single mother raising 3 teenage girls: 18, 15, and 13. Our family has a lot of issues, and I've been therapy since I was around 11 years old. Recently, my mom told me that she no longer enjoys motherhood and doesn't want the responsibilities of being a mother anymore. What does this mean? She's even talked of suicide before. I try to give her a break and be understanding, because I can see what a toll raising 3 kids on her own with a full-time job is taking on her. What can I do?!
