1st, try to be a bit nicer and more friendly to them than usual, for several days, without being too ***-kissing or patronizing (try to look natural).

Then, pick a day and time when they are both in very good mood, and simply tell them:

Mom, Dad, you know how happy it would make me if you were so kind as to let me go to Hawaii with my cousin for Thanksgiving. I will only ask you this: What do you prefer to see: a happy son coming back from Hawaii, grateful with you for the rest of his life, or an unhappy son staying reluctantly at home for thanksgiving, who will always be upset with you for not letting him go and have fun in Hawaii, an opportunity that I may never have again?

Good luck!

Thanksgiving is a pretty much family holiday. I would negotiate with them saying okay we can change the weekend we go to Hawaii if you let me go.

There is going to have to be negotiation on both sides. Why does it have to be over Thanksgiving? Clearly this is a holiday they want to spend with their family.

Hell tickets and hotel rooms are going to be cheaper the week before or the week after anyway.

well im 16 and ive convinced my parents to let me go on trips with friends familys to other countrys by getting as much of my school work that im going to miss done before i leave and if you have a job (or get one) try to pay for as much of it as you can....or just kiss some serious butt and make their coffee every morning, stuff like that lol j/k but the first 2 have always worked for me.....and also be sure to include the "ill be with my cousin so its not like ill go anywhere alone!"

kay well first off how old are you? if your of age you obvisouly don't need there permission to go, but if not, it kinda depends on your age and I could understand where there comming from where they want you home for the holidays. If I were you I would just suck up..show them that your mature enough to go...Do as they say, help out a little extra around the house. And just have a mature conversation about it...good luck

You're going to have to negotiate. You're going to have to do or give something as a trade off, like straight A's or extra house work every day until then----something big.

Age??
Age of cousin?
Plans for cost??
Events to attend?
A few clues to show the situation would be nice.

If you are not a senior, you are too young to be off without what might be proper supervision. If you are a senior, respect the wishes of your parents. Next year you can do all the stuff you want.

Say you will abide by them, make a sad face and wait around a few days.
