NO it is not a good idea, unless her psychologist is wanting her to do this. It sounds like the child has serious anti social personality disorder which can lead to lots of bad things as an adult. She needs major help and socializing but I wouldn't push to hard.

Yikes. Those sound like big problems for a 10-year-old. I think the problems causing her depression need to be solved before she goes away anywhere. Have problems like dyslexia been ruled out? It sounds like maybe she has major fear of rejection. Perhaps a better way would be to start smaller. Could she spend time away from her family with people she already knows, like maybe a have a sleepover at a fun aunt's home? With people you know will be positive and kind to her? Are there other children in her family that she might find a shared interest with? I get a feeling if she goes to this camp, her mother will be picking her up hours later, and if not, this could prove a very traumatic experience for her! Good luck, I hope things work out okay for your niece.

omg you are kidding me a 10 yr old on anti depressants ? that is just plain ridiculous and I would be questioning the dr that gave this child the script. If I did let her go to camp I would be informing the counselors about her problems and I dont think camp is so good for her right now . I think the mom should re think this . good luck .

She needs counseling, not drugs.I am curious as to what her home life is like.
