You can be any age to be adopted. Its just a different legal way of doing it.
When you are under 18 there has to be an investigation to see if the "adults" are proper. However when you turn 18 its basic. Parents to be and you go in to the court house file paper and the judge signs.
The judge will ask you some simple questions like why do you want to change your last name and such. They are only asking to make sure that you do not want to change your name to avoid the law and things like that.

Almost any age can be adopted, but the top age is some states is 21. The nice thing is that you are of legal age, so a judge should not have an issue with it.

no i don't think you can legally be adopted at that age. I think the limit most places is 18 or at 21. But figuratively you can be adopted. my family has 'adopted' my fiance. we dated for 15 months and arfe engaged for 6 now. my family has taken him in. He's been adopted.

yes you can! don't let these people tell you other wise... just because you can legally support yourself doesnt mean you can not be adopted! I hope everyone rememberrs that being adopted means that your legal guardians/parents would mean more than supporting you....
some people do it for the reasons of a closer relationship or otherwise... go ahead... I heard a woman in her 40's did it... looking for people to adopt her....

I really think that you are too old to be adopted. Sorry but, you could always change your last name to his if you wanted It would sorta be the same. Really it doesn't matter, you can always say that he's your father it's what you feel about him is what matters. It doesn't change anything.

I didn't know this until I encountered the situation firsthand, but I suppose there's no age limit. My ex-wife was formally adopted by her step-father shortly before his death, and she was in her 30s at the time.
