My husband and I are both useless when it comes to bright ideas for something to do at the weekends as a family. We want to go off for the day with our 8 month old but are stuck for ideas. We live in East Devon. Obviously as our son is 8 months he's too young for places specifically for children. Any ideas?

My problem is concering my recently-turned-eighteen year old brother, "Harry" (I'm older). Apparently our stepmother, "Dolores", hasn't been treating him very nicely and Harry is avoiding Dolores like the plague. Dad thinks its HIM that Harry is avoiding, even though Harry has told him otherwise. In fact, Harry would love to spend more time with Dad, just not Dolores. It broke my heart when I heard Harry tell our father that he wasn't going to a concert this weekend despite the trouble Dad went through to get tickets for Harry and his girlfriend (in fact, he'd planned to go to this concert with Harry in mind). Feeling that I wouldn't really enjoy the concert, I asked my real mother if I should still go, but she told me that I should still go because Dad really needs my company now. I don't want to be a a "fair-weather daughter". I do want Harry and Dad to spend more time together. The last thing I want to do is stir up more drama.

I have been married 1 yr, and my mother-in-law lives with us. I love her to death, but at the same time, she drives me crazy! I don't think she believes in boundaries or minding her own business. I also think she's allergic to cleaning up after herself. When I get off of the phone, she asks me who it was and what they wanted. I've had to start taking my calls in another room. I'm not a clean freak, but I will not live in a dirty house.I came home from work to find her here alone(as she had been all day),with overflowing trash, spills and crumbs all over the counters and black grease marks on the carpet from her work shoes.(that she tried to blame on my cat). The carpet incident happened the day after I had shampooed the entire house. Then she acts as though she deserves a medal for doing one load of laundry(folding not included). My husband thinks i over-react.There are many other things she does that irritate me, but not enough room to type. Am I over reacting? How should I handle this?

One day this ladies son dies and then that guy starts on her about being her daughters father. He didn't even have the decency to wait until she had the time to grieve over her sons death before he's jumpin on her. It's all about the money and press. I sincerely hope that Anna Nicole's daughter isn't his and his cold hearted greedy attempt at fame doesn't happen. HE SHOULD HAVE WAITED!!! His lawyer is no better and now she gets to be onTV!!!

I have recently been very disappointed by my family in that I felt they abandoned me in an inopportune time of crisis. I am not one to ask favors, so on the rare chance i do, I expect them done. didn't happen and the reason it didn't happen was unacceptable, imo.

So as a result I want to talk to my parents as little as possible.

Q:

What is the maximum amount of time-ballpark figure- I can *not* call them so as not to make them feel like I don't like them anymore or that I am 'abandoning' them?

They are kind of needy because they are both losers remarried to two others of equal or lesser value.

And I am the lowest common denominator, their son. I'd like to live my life and enjoy it.

Some of you are going to reply that i'm an awful person because you are going to assume I'm unforgiving or cruel or just a jerk because I don't like my family. If this is you, then please assist others with their answers- you won't do me much good and that's a waste of your precious time!

I posted a question about the boyfriend already, and now to his daughter....she is....4.....she is a really adorable child, when she doesn't spit!.....I am very sweet to this girl, she is actually really smart. I try to do nice things for her, and try to be there for her, but when I do something nice...she will spit or bite me....my boyfriend doesn't whoop her, he talks to her...but she isn't understanding it is wrong. I usually sit her down with colors, scissors, and paper and just let her cut, and also learn. The last time we did this, she cut a chunk of my hair out and said 'momma said to cut your hair'...what do I do??

So I'm 21 yrs old, I have a GED and some college. My mother has completely lost all touch with reality, my father lives on the other side of the country and is in poor health. I have no money, no car, a shitty paying job and live with my sister. My sister wants me out of the house becuase I' always depressed and never want to spend time with her. I need to leave by the end of this month... any suggestions on where I should go? what I should try? Moving is not an issue with me becuase I adjust well in new enviorments.... no matter where I go I will survive... but I just dont know whwere to go....... I was thinking somewhere south?

Please no lectures of any kind, I am in fact not a loser. I have little but was born into nothing. I'm just looking for some ideas and tips on how to decide my next move.

Although I am old enough to do so (23), I'd hate to go behind my parents back and seek birth control from my physician. My parents do not know I am sexually active (by sexually active, I mean with my boyfriend). Is there a way I can get on birth control by using the family physician without parents knowning or do you think it's more confidential to seek another physcian? I am financially capable of paying for birth control, but still remain on my parent's health insurance plan. Is there a way this would pop up sometime? I just need help, and please spare me the "you're not ready for sex" nonsense! Thanks :)

when i first met my hubby, his brother didn't like me. after i had a baby he finally got a girlfriend and now she is just heinous towards me even tho me and my brother in-law get along fine now. it's been 4 years and now all of a sudden she says my husband is going to be in her wedding, and my daughter as the flower girl, but i'm not even invited. i've never been anything but nice to her, but i'm at my wits end. what should i do, besides what i really wanna do and cause her physical harm? and the worst part is, my mother in-law praises her in front of me all the time and never says anything nice to me. my hubby is ready to cut off his family for me, what should we do?

My child has a strange sense of humor to begin with. He does not care that others feelings may be hurt by what he thinks is humor. I did not raise him this way and am very affended by his actions. I'm just not sure how to handle the situation right now. It has now involved the school, cost loss of going to a track meet, angry parents, possible some other upset students. I do not want him pushed to the point he gives up on his future plans which I feel may be indanger. Please help me to know what to do!
Thank you,

My friend has a mother who is fixated on him and him alone. She has undiagnosed mental illness (not joking), and it manifests in being extremely manipulative, draining, and hurtful. My friend has physical symptoms of stress. He loves his mother, and wants to do the right thing, but continuing to be in her life will emotionally destroy him. Should he cut bait and try to heal, or stick with his relationship with her because, after all, it IS his mother. Also, please note, he has real concern that she may hurt herself should he leave, so it's more than just hurting her feelings.

Urgent help needed. I am the father of a three year old girl (probably not biologically) who lives with me. The mother and I have NEVER been to court, we were always able to work out our differences (support, and living circumstances). My daughter now lives with me...I have always been there for her but don't have official legal custody. It has now come to light that my ex-girlfriend has recently been in contact with a guy who might be her biological father and might want to get involved after threee years of non involement. I signed the voluntary paternity form and my name has been on the birth certificate since shortly after she was born. Will all this become void if it is found that I am not her biological father and will I lose her even though her mother is unfit (although never been tried for it) and I have been raising her for the past year? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
P.S. New York State law would apply here if anyone needs to know.

Last December my sister-in-law & I volenteered to throw A family Christmas Party this year but I haven' talking to her about it since last years party.I have been trying to contact her but everytime I call I get the machine or one of the kids (16 & 12) answer & say that she's not home or taking a nap. I just find it hard to beleive that's all she ever does. Anyway... because we (my husband & I) haven't been able to make contact with her, we have gone a head & started making the plans & rented a hall with out her. So today she emails me to say "HI" & to see what we are doing this weekend ~ I was going to respond with a message asking if & when she wanted to get together to start planning this party but decide that I have made enough efforts. I will continue on with my plans for the party & wait to see if she mentions it this weekend. SO MY QUESTION IS WHAT SHOULD MY NEXT STEP BE IF SHE DOESN'T BRING IT UP? GO ON WITH OUT HER OR REMIND HER ONE LAST TIME? HOW WOULD YOU HANDLE THIS?

My uncle and his family got involved in a fatal car accident in the highway. Instantly my uncle, his wife and baby boy died but one child (AGE 12) who got injured in the save accident luckily survived. He had been taken to Hospital and now recovering. He did not know that his parents and younger brother already died. So far people are telling him that your parents are also in hospital. But this week he will be released from Hospital and some one need to tell him the truth. Can any one suggest please, how to inform him that they all are dead?

My mother in law is 50 years old, she hasn't had a boyfriend in 8 years and was married once.

She married her first husband (my husband's father) after knowing him 9 months and they had a rocky marriage.

Her only boyfriend after her divorce was an alcoholic. She broke up with him after 5 years and hasn't had a boyfriend since.

She has been on two dates in the last 5 years and both men never called her again.

Now she called my husband today and told him she wanted us to meet him this weekend. She also wants to have him meet the family at Thanksgiving.

She has known him for FOUR days!!!

She says he is "perfect" for her: never been married, has no children, has his own house and is an accountant.

We were shocked and felt it was so rushed. I am uncomfortable meeting her boyfriend of 4 days.

Are we overreacting? We want her to have a boyfriend so she stops trying to hang out with us all of the time, but this is way fast!

What do you think?
