My husband and I are both useless when it comes to bright ideas for something to do at the weekends as a family. We want to go off for the day with our 8 month old but are stuck for ideas. We live in East Devon. Obviously as our son is 8 months he's too young for places specifically for children. Any ideas?

When I took my son to the zoo it cost me a fortune - and his favourite animal was the seagulls - which we could have seen anywhere in the city for a lot less than the zoo cost me!!
Try a nice family picnic under a really huge tree in the park. The big branches and all those leaves will entrance him laying on ablanket underneath the tree. You could do some crayon rubbings of the bark as a momento of the day, it's a great setting for some lovely photos to look back on, cheap, easy...and you can time your visit with flexibilty for sleeping times etc. Have fun...you never know when you are creating a memory, they are not created just when we spend lots of money or go fancy places!

I agree about the Zoo, my 3 loved going to the Zoo when they where younger, also to the park - ok they where in their buggy but they still loved alll the things that where going on.
It is getting a bit chilly now though, so what about a heated indoor kids pool - one that caters for babies, or a playpark indoors such as Whacky Warehouse - you and your husband can have a nice meal too.
Hope you find somwhere nice and have a great time...

is a nice place to go for the whole family, lots of animals, some of which you can pet. I'm sure your baby will like it a lot- and it's fun and interesting for adults too.

have a good day

Is there a "petting" farm around there?

My little one loved seeing the goats, sheep, horses, pigs & cows close up...most of them have rabbits etc... aswell
