That amount seems to be very fair well done for
keeping your finances in order.

I believe that if you are working you should pay your parents rent. If the £300 includes gas, electricity, council tax, and water you are getting a fair deal. For example, while I was in uni I paid £200 rent, £60 for gas, £60 for electricity, and £15 per quarter for water. If the £300 also includes food even better!

that's a reasonable amount,my daughter who is 18 works and refuses to give me anything and she is still at home i've just given her an ultimatum if she doesn't contribute for her food and bills i'm throwing her out.so she can find out what the real world of paying bill etc is like too many kids think their parents owe them everything my parents has a saying if you earn you pay some kids today don't think that applies to them.i earned £70 per week and still gave my mum £25 of that that was in the 70s

i used to pay my mum £50 a week to live at home! i used to think that was unfair but i live with my fiance now and have to pay £550 a month rent plus £10 a week electricity £10 a month gas £26 a month tv licence £128 a month council tax and £50 a month water rates! so now i think £50 a week was more than fair

As long as you are covering property taxes and your share of the utilities, you should be fine. Kicking in a little extra, for food, etc. is always a good idea. Rule of thumb: rent should be about 1/4 of your monthly income...

that sounds more than fair to me. My brother and I always paid a flat £100 a month, which is obviously nothing (and more 10-15 years ago), but think it was the gesture rather than the amount. Some of my friends never paid a penny, which I alwasy thought was a bit bad, when working full-time etc. think you are paying more than enough.

You pay your parents? did you ask them to bring you into this world? no you never. they are responsible for you until you leave home. thats terrible that they make you pay rent. i would tell my mum to get stuffed if she expected money off me. how do they expect you to get a place of your own if you have to give them £300 a month? most of my mates mums dont take money for them either and the ones that do only take £20 a week. you are being taken for a mug by your parents. sorry to be harsh but its true!!

i think it depends on how much you earn how old you are . to be honest if you were mine i would not take that it is to much. when my children are a work i will charge some but will put most of it away so when they have there on house they will have some money to help them start. i think you need to pay some but that is to much i would about 150 a month
