If I was your mum, I would like a pretty bouquet of flowers with a card that included a hand made gift certificate for doing a couple of chores around the house (to use at her leisure). Inexpensive and thoughtful.

Does your mom collect anything? My mom loves angels so I always try to get something odd with an angel on it. We are very creative too and make jewelry or a card when we can. If she likes to pamper herself bath oils, or a whole pedicure set or even a gift certificate is nice at her favorite store etc. Or just take her out for lunch/breakfast.

Get a nice photo (of you and her together would be great, but if not, maybe a nice photo of just you, or a loved pet...something meaningful to her) and buy a nice decorative frame for it.

flowers are always nice, if she's not allergic, and take her to dinner or maybe just spend the day with her doing whatever she wants to do.
