What I mean is, it seems that people's religion is based on their parents opinions, not what they really feel inside.

Well here is the deal...I told my girlfriend I could take her to see "Invincible" but I didn't know when. Her friend however from down the street asked her if she wanted to go see it Friday. Well, without me or her brother there I don't know if she can go b/c I don't know enough about the movie. Her brother and I came up with some rules for our women when watching movies. We don't want them seeing bloody violence or hearing the "f" or "s" word or "GD". Also, we don't want them seeing men in their underwear or less than that. Usually we have the TV guardian hooked up on videos to mute the foul language and either I or her brother can tell her to cover her eyes when a bad scene is coming. However, I can't go this Friday and neither can her brother b/c we are going to a baseball game. I'm afraid with the movie being football and all there might be a locker room scene where a man might be in his underwear and I think she would peak. With it being PG I doubt there is much language.

My friend had a baby at 24 weeks and the baby weighed 1lb 4 oz when born. Stayed in hopsital for three months and when she came home had a tricheatomy and feeding tube. She was 19 lbs 9 months old and was about to have the trach taken out and live a normal life develping like a 5 month old should(remember she was 4 months early) then just passed away in her sleep one morning. We were all devestated and my friend took it really hard but was strong for her other two boys(she's a single mom) She is one of the best mothers I know and this has been so hard on us. I am there and was there for everything she needed or needs. Every holiday is hard. Every day is a challange but she is doing better than I would ever be. I just wish there was a way to help her not hurt so much. Its been about 6 months and I know it will take time and she will never really heal. She has very loving family and friends. She is on antidepressants and she is staying active and busy with her other kids-Any suggestions?

Okay I know I started the problem ; ) but my soon to be 5yr old has been sleeping with me. A few weeks ago I started the long and grueling process of making him sleep alone. The only time I get a full nights sleep now is when he's at his fathers house. At bedtime I have him brush his teeth and either pick a cartoon to watch or a book to read, I tuck him in, kiss him etc. Then I leave the room and he follows me. I've tried the normal bribe...sleep five nights then get a surprise, I"ve stayed long enough for him to fall asleep and he wakes in the night and comes to my room. I know at this point I should not let him in my bed, so I take him back to his bed but he wakes back up about every hour! Last night sometime after 4am was my fourth time getting up with him and putting him back to bed, I woke up at 6am to him in my bed again! Another fail! lol okay so now I'm going crazy what do i do? Should I lock my bedroom door for a few nights so he can't sneak in? HELP!

neither one has much education and they have alot of trouble with childcare. I am so angery and disappointed I don't even know how to repsond. I feel that they are short changing the other kids and making thier lives so much harder than it has to be.The rest of the family is going to flip out when they find out and I don/t know how to deal with any of this. Any advise? I know it's thier life but it effects everyone.

I don't want him to become lazy and obese, but It seems to be that these things can really help the brain develop faster and better. There are times when It's impossible to be excercising (like when riding in the car) and this could be a fun way to build reflexes, etc. I would probably lump computer time, TV and video game time into one catagory and give a budget of 1 or 2 hours a day (about what they get now on TV & Computer) and let them decide what medum to use. Suggestions or Comments appreaciated! I'd really like to hear from parents who made one choice and wish they made a different one.

My friend's son is 11 years old. When we get together in the evening she has to excuse herself around 9:30-10:00 as she needs to "tuck in" her son. Sometimes she even lies in bed with him till he falls asleep. ( Usually for 2-3 hours) He insists on having her with him before going to bed and refuses to even go to his bedroom till she's there. I know this annoys her sometimes as she tells him to go to bed himself but he flat out refuses and makes a fuss till she gives in and puts him to bed. When I asked her about this she says she doesn't mind and a night time routine is healthy for him. Do you think he's too old to have his mother continue with this routine and should maybe start learning to go to bed himself?

My daughters are 2 and 3 yrs old. I nursed both of them and they got used to be put to bed after nursing when totaly asleep. We transition by letting them watch TV with us because we all appreciate the extra time together. Now the TV keep them awake so for a couple of months, we tried to put a good routine bath, toothbrushing and a book but they need us close to them until they fall asleep. Sometimes it takes 30 min! We let them have a sipcup filled with water and a teddy with them. We now we can let them cry for long so it's not an option and the older one can open doors... Any tricks to help us do it quickly or gradually?
