WOW! what a question >8 (

Check this out, old people are people. They have lived a long life and in their years of youth have done a lot to get themselves and their families to where they are currently. Though our elders may not be able to contribute to the current growth of our family or society as much as they used to, that doesn't make them useless.

You will be old one day. Dont be so careless because you may be young now. "Why do we need old people?".

A lot of people forget about elders. Some families ship off their grandparents to nursing homes because they dont want to deal with them. (though some people actually cant afford to take care of their parents or offer them the life support they may need and have no choice but to give their to assisted living homes).

You shouldnt only value old people for what they do now, think about everything they have done. Life and Existance can be thought of like a marathon that is run with a baton. Each person has a chance to run with the baton until it is time to pass it on to the next runner. So lets say your in first place and you are the one running right now. Can you get mad at any of your other teamates who already ran because they are now sitting on the side cheering you on?

I think if you are old enough to be qualified as an "Old Person" you deserve to be able to kick back while the youth help you out. When you were a baby your parents waited on you hand and foot and even as you continue to grow up and away from them, they will still do everything for you. When they grow too old to do for themselves, are you going to foget about everything they did for you and say "Why do I need old people?". Because that would be a shame.

Old people have so much to teach us. Haven't you heard "those that don't know history are doomed to repeat it." I remember my grandmother had a lot to share. She had time to sit with me and tell me about what time was like when she was a little girl. She knew how to live without power or running water. If the power grid failed, I would probably starve, but my grandmother wouldn't have. Old people can tell you with experience, "this too shall pass." In other words, they've been around long enough to have seen your problem before and reassure you that you can come through the other side. I miss my grandmother.

To pass on the knowledge of our race from generation to generation. If there were not old people, how do you think we would have learned to fix and repair the things they created? They also have knowledge of history, for they grew up and lived in a time that we never did, therefore can inform the next generations about how life was in their time.

I spent quite a bit of my youth talking with older people. I learned so much. They'd been to places I'd never seen and had so much life experience. They are living history lessons.

If you were going to a new location, a tour guide or someone who'd been there before would be helpful, right? Well, the elderly are our tour guides to life itself. I value and respect them.

Why do we need anybody? They are people the same as all of us. Just because you got stuck behind an old lady on your way to work this morning is no reason to get all high and mighty about how should live and who shouldn't.

Do You Want To Die When You Get OLD? I Would Hope Not And That Is Such A Mean thing To Say!

the older people are luckier than the young people of today. they have lived more years therefore they are lucky to have made it those years without dying. i would think you would want to get old rather than die tommorrow. anyone can die at any moment you don't just have to be old to die. i know alot of 16 year olds who are now dead, i'm sure they would love to be old, rather than dead. its better to be over the hill then under it. anyday above ground is a good day.,

Because we all get old sooner or later. Old people don't just stop having a life because they have become old! They are experienced in any problem you can have. They have good advice to offer. They deserve better treatment.

Because the population needs someone to kick around after they dispense wisdom from years of experience that we youngsters will never have the intelligence to listen to.
