it isn't so much when you start potty training as when you finish it. If you think the child is ready then start the process, but be patient because it will be a while. Some people take a long time to get potty trained. Some people even get really old and forget their potty training. :)

1. If they sleep through the night without wetting themselves.

2. If they can tell you when they've gone potty in their diaper...(Not if they do, just if they can)

3. They can pull their pants on and off by themselves.

But keep in mind--don't force your kid to potty train. You can actually do more backtracking by trying to potty train a child who isn't ready...

Good luck!

The age can vary drastically, but if you see your childs expression change to one that shows he/she knows what's coming you can put him/her on the potty. It's a start. It took about 4 days with son. He was 2.

It varies from child to child. The best clue is when they come and tell you that they wet, or made a mess in they're diaper. OR, when they start pulling on the clothes,
that's a good sign that they just did something

For girls it is about 18 months
For boys it's 24 months

Your child will show interest in the toliet or want to watch you go to the bathroom when they are ready to learn.

I'M not a mother but Slim Goodi has already said everything I've heard from reading and other mothers. Go with her advise (she's either a great mom, or a doctor!).
