My bf is very attractive, makes me laugh, and very loving. Because of his religion, he has never celebrated holidays such as Christmas and Valentines day, but now he is willing to learn them and understand it's importance and wants to make that his customs as well(he's a Jehovah's Witness). He even gave up his Witness fellowship to be with me and is pretty much disowned by his family. He is so handsome, kind, and I know he is very much in love with me. He is a great kisser and wants to wait for marriage to have actual intercourse, but has come up with many other great alternative to please me. I know I love him, but something doesn't fill right. I tried to break up w/ him and he said he'd never eat again. He promised that if I left him that he would waste away and I believe him bc one time I got mad @ him bc of his family and he would not eat and lost about 5 lbs in a week from 170 to 165. I love him very much too, so why do I push him away?

I could really use an outsiders perspective...
I'm having a dilemma with my real father, so if you are interested, read on, and bear with me while I give some back story.

My mom got prego with me at 18. She and my dad had been together for 4 years and were planning a wedding. Before I was even born, he left her and married the woman he had been cheating on my mom with in the navy.

Well, to make a long story short, my mom spent years trying to
convince him to at least see me, or at the very least pay child
support, but he acted like we didnt exist. He was happy with his wife who didnt want to have children.

When I turned 18, he called me out of the blue. Weird, since I had never spoken to the man in my entire life. So, we decided to try and be friends. Then I had my daughter at 19. It should have been the perfect 2nd chance for him. Since he had missed out on me, at least he could be there for my daughter. Well, every time I talked to him on the phone or something, he acted

He's in the coast guard and we've been dating only a month. We've tried dating before, but the distance was too much for us. He just transferred here and we met last night. We plan to get together more often, and possibly move in together. We've talked about our lives and what we see for our future, and we agree on almost everything. Would I say yes if he asked me to marry him? I don't know. What do you think?

he is racist? My best friend has a friend and he hates me because he doesnt like people who are like me. My parents are from India, so I'm asian + he said all this bad stuff about me to my friend, talking about how I am responsible for what happenned in new york... like on 9/11. It made me soo sad I started crying and it is awkward to talk to her and then have him be there. He doesnt do anything to me, but behind my back he says stuff. I wanted to try to be nice to him and see if we could just be friends, but I don't know if that is a good idea. What should I do? I talk to my friend everyday and then he will be there and it makes me feel sad and uncomfortable.

that you don't want to hear her bad-mouth people? My mother talks bad about everybody... other family members, friends, even people she hardly knows or hasn't seen for decades. It drives me crazy. She never has anything good to say, and I get so sick of hearing it. Even though I am an adult, I still have to respect my mother and not be rude to her by saying what's on my mind. Short of not calling her anymore, I don't know what to do. It stresses me out so badly every time I talk to her... I just don't want to hear it anymore. She's easily offended and easily hurt. Any suggestions?

My husband gradually became a bad alcholic over the years. We've been separated 6 months & he asks to come home. I asked him to leave if he wouldn't give up drinking & he chose to leave.
Here is my question: We have a 3 1/2 yr old son who adores his daddy. My husband is very good with him, BUT can't be trusted to not drink while caring for him. I have to supervise when hubby interacts with our son.
Part of me wants to let him come home & be in my son's life, but I think this could be bad for my son. I don't want him growing up in an alcoholic home. My husband's mother was a disgusting drunk & he really resents that his father never kicked her out!
If you have an alcoholic parent, are you glad this parent lived with you (or didn't live with you) & which would have been best for you in the long run? I want to know how my son might feel about my decision to refuse to let my husband come home.
Hubby is verbally abusive to me, but not physically abusive. He's NEVER mean to our son.

My husband has a master's degree, but can't seem to keep a job. He's had at least 5 jobs in the past year, and I can't even count the number he's had in the 12 years we've been married. When he's out of a job (due to being fired or quitting because of some lame excuse), he's terribly depressed and he does NOTHING. He feels sorry for himself and I don't know what to do... He can be a great guy, and I would hate to end this relationship. I've always believed in the "for better or worse" part, but it doesn't seem to let up, ever. Then, when things start to get bad financially, he starts fussing at me for "spending money." (groceries, children's school lunch, and crazy things like that)

He can't find time to get a job, but manages to find time for a daily afternoon nap.

I think I would take it better if he would help out around the house while he's laying around in it all day every day, but he doesn't. About the only thing he manages to do is to get his cereal bowl to the kitchen!

In a previous question, people said that it is unreasonable to ask for a guy who meets these qualifications. Why?
1. He must have a steady, reliable job.
2. He must pay his own rent, utilities and other bills, as well as buy the bulk of his food.
3. He must have a license, own a car and drive regularly.
4. He must want to have sex AT LEAST five times a week.
5. He must be able to control his liquor consumption habits.
6. He must eat from all of the five food groups, unless something like an allergy or his religion prevents him from doing so.
7. He must like children, particularly my child.
8. He must be willing to come to my Christmas parties at work, and the military ball, and he must dress appropriately.
8. He must not have any warrants out for his arrest.
9. He must not partake in illegal drugs.
10. He must not be predudiced against any group of people for their race, religion, ethnic group or culture

When i'm trying to be a good stepmother it seems i just don't fit in with the family in general. such as, when we were at the store the other day, my stepchild called my niece the N word in the checkout. i turned around a popped her for it and told her not to EVER say that again. i also popped my niece(black) for picking on her. The family behind me was white and they looked at me in horror and shock! i just don't understand why.

or like last week when we were at my husbands(white) mothers house for a get together. you would'nt believe how many people stard ar me when she called me ''mom''. Her real mother is strung out so i guess she calls me mom which i have no problem with. but his mom suddenly snatches her to the side and pops her on the hand and tells her''shes not your mom!'' I really wanted to say something but i did'nt know how far i should go as a stepmother seeing as though she was HER blood grandmother.
i'm new at this whole stepmother thing and young. (22) i want to Be as good as a stepmother as I could be but some people in his family (not all, unless you include society Makes me feel so out of place and like I have no authority over his little girl.

I have known my friend for almost 8 years now. Two years ago, I found out she's a backstabber, can't trust her with my secrets.

Anyways, these days we talk. So, May 14, her and other friends wants me to join them for World's of Fun. I told her, I'll see if my schedule is clear on that day.

To be honest, I don't have nothing to do on that day. But I don't want to go with them because I still have the feeling of how she used to talk behind my back with other friends. I know they'll be making jokes and running around crazy. I'm the type of person who always since I was a kid act like a mature person and don't run around crazy.

Should I tell her the truth of how I don't want to go with them?

I have two experienced professionlas telling me different things: one says that ONLY police serves the annulment papers to my spouse, and another says that these papers can be sent by mail, and if no one responds in 30 days, my plea would be approved.
Do you know anything about it?

My own parents, grandparents to my 3 kids, live just a few minutes from us. Most people assume that since they live so close, my kids are close to them too, but this is not the case. It's quite the opposite, in fact. We might only see them once a month if that, and they don't call.

Growing up, my own grandparents lived very far away, and I only held an imagined ideal of who they were. I tended to put them on pedestals only to later have these images shattered when I learned who they were and what they were really like. I want to spare my kids the same heartbreak.

Is there a way to tell my parents that they need to be involved in their grandkids' lives? My son plays soccer and he'd be so happy just to have them there to watch. But they don't want to come because my mother says it is boring and they don't want to be outdoors. Also, getting a chance to leave the kids with them and have dinner with hubby would be nice.

In contrast, my in laws live in England and WISH they could see them
