It is so unfair. They have already raised their kids and know they have to do it all over again.

A freind of mine who used to be a teacher told me that most of the time when she would ask for a parent teacher confrence it would be a grandparent that would show up. Like my freind said, what are you supposed to say to a sixty year old grandmother about a fifteen year old that won't do homework. Are you supposed to say that she needs to "crack down" on them.

I don't understand how some of these girls have children and are perfectly content with their elderly parents raising their kids. Don't they have any shame.

no its not fair.but live is not going to be fair all the time or for that matter even most of the time.im very thankful and blessed to have 9 grand children and one on the way. i worship and adore all them. but i pray every day that it never becomes my job to raise them. they have great parents doing a great job. if some thing horrible was to happen to any of the parents i would be the first to fight for the right to raise my grand children. would it be fair NO would we all be o.k.YES

It all depends on the circumstances. If both parents are deceased, then no it is not unfair, it is a blessing. Let's say if one parent is trying to acheive something (completing school) then it is also okay. If the grandparents are there just for convenience then it is unfair to them, because they have already done their job of raising their own kids.

we aren't here to be fair.

sometimes people are unfit to raise their own children, and grandparents take over. at least the kids have people in their lives who care. you know?

there is at least one tribe in Africa where people do traditionally raise their grandchildren.
