I shoot indoor photography for hockey and I'm looking for a faster lens. I can't decide between the 20-70, or the 70-200. I also shoot outdoor football games from time to time. I have a 70-300mm lens with IS (f/4.5) and it does well enough, but I'd like the faster lens. Any suggestions on which is best for indoor sports with poor lighting?

I am going to get a new digital SLR camera from either Dell or Best Buy. I currently have a 5.0 mp Canon A95. I guess you could say I am a beginner so I need a camera that is easy and user friendly. I am looking for at least 10 mp. I appreciate your input. Oh yeah and I want to stay under $1000. I do not have any lenses at this time.

I have been researching SLR's for a while, and have all but decided to purchase the Nikon D40, because it got stellar reviews from various places, and was well spoken of here on Y!A.

In talking with a photographer friend the other night, she suggested that I spend the (roughly) extra $150 for the D40X. The only difference, it seems to me, are megapixels (6.1 vs 10.2), and a fraction of shutter speed increase. The only advantage I could see to higher megapixels is if I decided to print the photos and display them in a larger frame (which is a possibility, should I capture a great shot).

An extra $150 is within my budget, but if it's something not worth bothering with, then I don't want to spend it. Any advice from SLR experts is appreciated.

I bought an Olympus FE170 camera 8 months ago and I'm so disappointed with that camera.Yes there are many options like image stabilization etc but trust me the pics are sooo bad.I tried taking pictures using all the possible options that this camera had and still the photos are terrible.Anyway, few of my friends have canon cameras and they told me that I should definitely go for canon.I saw some photos that they have taken with their canon cameras and the pixel analysis was great and it came as a surprise when I heard that these photos were taken with just a 3 MP camera.Anyway now I want to buy a new camera and I was thinking of canon but all opinions are accepted and much appreciated! I don't want to spend more than 300$...I just want to take clear and vivid photos! :)

i recently read that the single most important thing in a camera is the lens... and all this time i wanted the cam with the most mepixels...

anyway, which digital camera has the best lens for general use... and i only want camera's that are flat or that dont have lenses that stick out all the time or with removable lenses... the magazine i read claimed that the LEICA C-LUX 2 are top of the line as far as compact digital cameras go... and then went on to say that the pannisonic lumix has the same lens...

anyway, the question is which compact point and shoot digital camera has the best lens???

HI, I sell on ebay mostly fabrics and patterns and I need a digi cam for the least I can pay but also that can take close ups. I have an Olympus from about 2001 and it has zoom and takes wonderful pics, but I can't get closer than 2 ft physically and then when I zoom, it won't get the pics of things like the pictures on the pattern fronts that are about 4-6" tall close up. What should I be looking for, what specs on a camera would I need to be able to do this ? would it cost a fortune a camera like this ? And I think I might be able to get a scanner and that might be the cheapest way to go but putting the fabric on the scanner might be tricky MAIN ISSUE, I HAVE LITTLE MONEY BUT MUST INVEST IN SOMETHING TO SELL SO I CAN HAVE MONEY AND THESE FABRICS ARE VINTAGE AND ARE SELLING BUT I NEED BETTER PICS.

I'm going to buy a Digital camera with a wide angle telephoto lens. Do you know what site I can find photos that shows what every lens can brig to the photographer? My purpose is to bring a far away back view to the camera (not much) and put my family within. Wich one do you suggest?.

okay - my dad is going away in 2 days time and he has just informed me that his Minolta camera is giving him a problem. He has no manual and has asked me to look at it this lunchtime for him. I don't have a computer myself let alone a digital camera so as much help as possible is needed please.
THE PROBLEM: The camera is giving him a message saying he cannot use the card (we are presuming that is it full!!), but he can't delete the (103) pictures on the camera either.
Now please bear in mind that until lunchtime I won't ever have seen this camera - please keep answer simple :-)
Thanks for your help
