my dad thinks i can take a 8mp camera, and zoom the picture down/size it down and it will have a better picture quality, because it "smashes down" the 8mp into a smaller area. is this true or possible?

my Nikon D80 is "in transit" with UPS as we speak, and i need some information on SD cards:

1) What is the best brand/size (i take a TON of pictures esp. at 10 MP) for the cost?? (one brand costs $40, another $70, but both are 2 GB, whats with that??)

2) I used to use my iPod to transfer photos from my memory stick in my point and shoot digital camera (sony cybershot dsc-t1) to the iPod under Photo Import, then delete all the pictures on the memory stick and then when i got back home, plug in my iPod (set under hard disk mode), and transfer the pics to the computer. that way, i could have an entire memory stick space. NOW, my iPod "doesn't work"--runs out of power while importing the photos, freezes because i've dropped it so many times, etc. I CANT RELIE ON IT. hahah

SO, what should i use as a "hard drive" so i can have maybe two 2 GB memory SD cards, then mabye transfer one of them to a thing and have the whole memory card, what's the MicroMate for SDHC SDDR-11

It's what she really wants and now that we have the computer it won't cost her to keep the photos she takes.

I'm looking for a site that offers as many of the following as possible, in order of their importance:

1. Excellent photo printing.
2. Unlimited Storage Space
3. Easy editing of photos
4. Easy to upload photos
5. Easy to share, perhaps with it's own web address I can send to people.
6. Fast access to thumbnails of my photos.

What do you recommend and why?

I have a FinePix Fujifilm F470 and it worked great with our 256 gig xd memory card and then bought a 2 gig. The 2gig worked for about three weeks and then showed up one morning with "card not initialized". We have had this problem before and just formatted the card. The card will not complete the format in the camera and we've been told by fujifilm not to do the format in the computer. Anybody have the problem? What can we do now??? Help! We can't find the receipt to return it!

I've been saying, "I just can not believe that 10 MP on a smaller 1/2.5" sensor (Pentax A20) will be better than 10 MP on a 1/1.8" sensor (Canon SD900) that is nearly twice as large." for a couple of months now. I got the sensor size for the Pentax from dpreviews.com - a trusted site. I just noticed tonight in the PopPhoto review that the Pentax A20 has the same size 1/1.8" sensor as the Canon SD900. I verified this at the B&H site, although this was the source for the info published by PopPhoto. I went to www.pentaximaging.com to verify the information, but they no longer list the A20 as it has been replaced by the A30. The A30 does indeed have a 1/1.8" sensor.

I'll send a correction note to dpreview.com right now.

I've seen 10 megapixel cameras but I'm sure there are ones higher than that. Please tell me what is the highest amount that technology has enabled us to create.

i was wondering about the reputation of 1wayphoto.com because i can't seem to find a BBB (Better Business Bureau, www.bbb.org) report on the site, which is what i do for almost any site that i am unsure of.

Their prices seem too good to be true, but they seem certified, according to their "testimonies".
