It's what she really wants and now that we have the computer it won't cost her to keep the photos she takes.

I think it is a lovely gift. What a nice way to encourage your daughter to grow creatively, to view the world differently and understand its beauty! It will be wonderful for her to look back on the pictures she took as a child when she is older.

It would be a good idea to get a hardy camera, so maybe speak to a salesperson about a "kid-friendly" camera. You don't want to be paying for something that won't last, and you also want a camera that takes decent pictures.

I wouldn't spend more than a hundred bucks on a digital camera since she's probably not responsible enough to take care of it, and if she breaks it, it's not as painful as her breaking a 300 buck digital camera.

Try to find a digital camera that's study and cheap at the same time. I think there are digital cameras that are designed for kids, so look into that.

(Mom) by all means give her that Chance!! as the both of you get older you will be glad that you did!!! you might want to start he off with a digital camera so it will be easier to use her computer and learn how to edit her photo's!! hey I'm still a kid at hand! I just retired from my photography business because I have fallen very ill and I'm now on the road to recovery from a very major illness, if you want to get inspired, please read my story on gogole or yahoo, please googe my name bob christiansen and you and your daugther will get inspired about doing things in life!! just so you know my aorta riped!!! for anyone that has not heard of the aorta, it is the major artery that go's from your heart to all your limbs, I'm one of 18 people in the past 40 years that has lived threw this, most people die in the emergency room or in bed! if you or you daughter have any questions about taking photo's. please let me know!!

Depends on the camera-they make some good cheapies for kids. From experience I can tell you that kids that age don't usually take good care of things like that, but then again, I don't the 6 year old you are talking about. It wouldn't hurt I guess.

Dude, it really is like asking if that is incorrect for a lady to make a sandwich...this coming from a lady. I play Syrim, BioShock, COD, Fall Out, and a set of alternative video games. I also watch anime like, ok Anime, Naruto, Soul Eater, Bleach ect. that is not a huge deal. besides the indisputable fact that that is not too person-pleasant both. And at your age, merely be grateful you're literally not a bronie.

Yeah..It all depends..ofcourse not a real digital one though..but I would definatley consider buying a Fisher Price one..theyre specially made for kids..It comes in blue and pink..theres also some other unknown brand ones that are under 100 dollars..I have 2 kids (girls)..and boy are they always asking me for a camera..and my 8 yr old is always using my Canon....she really enjoys using it..

I think its a great idea! There are so many inexpensive digital cameras out there these days -- you can find some for under $20 if you look!

These obviously won't have the high quality and features of more expensive models, but she won't know the difference!

Here are a few to look at:

No, of course not. You're never too young to develop an interest in photography. But, she only needs a basic entry level type of camera.
Just don't let her develop her interests too much, though...or she might be asking for a DSLR by the time she is 8 years old...lol

No - a simple camera is fine for a 6 year old. Just get one that's not too expensive & is easy to use for her. Also, set some rules like when & where she can take & use her camera.

If you work w/ her - you can foster her talent and share her interests.
