i'VE ONLY HAD IT A WEEK, AND TAKEN ONLY AT MOST 10 PHOTOS, BUT I'M ON THE 3RD SET OF BATTERIES! BEFORE I TAKE IT BACK, IS IT SOMETHING I'M DOING WRONG, OR IS IT THE CAMERA? iTS ONLY A CHEAP THING i BOUGHT FOR PUTTING STUFF ON EBAY, BUT AT THIS RATE, ITS GOING TO PROVE VERY EXPENSIVE

I hope other users can understand the question. What I mean to say is if I were to use a 4800 dpi inkjet printer to print images from a 5 mp camera, would the printer or the camera be the one limiting the image quality? Should I substitute the printer with a 9600 dpi printer or the camera with a 10 mp camera? If I were to get a 9600 dpi printer, what would be the recommended mp camera? At what mp does it become overkill, assuming I don't plan to do any cropping or resizing.

I want to by a digital camera. There are 3 models that I like.
1. Panasonic DMC-TZ3
2. Canon IXUS 75
3. Canon IXUS 950 IS
I'm looking in the camera: finess, resolution, acutance (I mean, the pics), a good matrix, live colors(in the pics),battery long life, a not bad optical zoom (but not as a pro)...
Thanks for your help!

I'm going to buy a UV lens to protect the lens on my Digital SLR and I bought a small carrying case, as well. Do y'all have any advice for a new D SLR user? Maybe in terms of using it? Little things are very helpful, too.

Cameras we're looking at:

1) Canon Powershot SD IS
Price: $360
Battery Life: 550 shots
Megapixels: 5
Next-shot delay: 2 sec
Optical Zoom: 12x

2) Kodax EasyShare p880
Price: $490
Battery Life: 290 shots
Megapixels: 8
Next-shot delay: 2 sec
Optical zoom: 5.8x
Cool feature: wide angle capability, in-camera red-eye romval, and can save images in jpeg

3) Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT
Price $800
Battery life: Excellent
Megapixels: 8
Next-shot delay: 1/3 second
Why it's worth getting: SLR with an LCD screen, ability to change lenses, manual controls

Any ideas?

These are the top 3 we chose from Consumer Reports, but we wanted some honest opinions. This is a camera that would have to last us at least 5-10 years (and hopefully more), so we're prepared to dish out the dough for the RIGHT camera.

I have a film camera that I use for taking real estate picutres. It has a 10mm lens. The wide angle is great for taking pics of interior rooms. I want to buy a digital camera with wide angle capabilities, but I need some advice. If I get an SLR with an 18mm lens, will I actually get that much angle, or just 28mm of angle, or as the product info says, "28mm equivalent?"

considering that all the other features are the same?

I'll give you best answer if you have a good answer to justify for or against buying the 8 MP camera.

I own Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H2. When viewing shots I just taken and using theT(telephoto) on camer as opposed to W(wide)it shows the shot starting at X1.1, then X1.2., X1.3, X1.5, X2.0 up to X5.0 Can't find in manual what this signifies. If most digital cameras have this, can I correlate one of these figures into how well an 8X10 or 11X14 print would come out?

11 hrs ago I asked a quesion about customer support in the Nikon and Canon families. Does anyone have any problems conveying your questions in these two companies, getting the propper answer. I own a Sony, and most times they just don't understand my exact question. In future I'd like to buy either a Nikon or Canon DSLR. Will I have the same problems with their customer support. Are we speaking to somebody from India?

A question I gots to know. When you call Nikon support or Canon support, is it difficult making the person on the other end understand exactly what you're asking. I own a Sony camera and from time to time ask thei support something and they come back not understanding what I ask. I have no doubt in future I'll buy a DSLR-either Nikon or Canon, but would like to know of their help. Do they transfer you to somebody from India for example?

Not surprisingly it doesn't work now. Any hope of fixing it? Or do I just have to chuck it?.
I have dried it and changed batteries and don't know what else to do.

Seen a digital SLR camera where you can only look through the viewfinder to take photos. You look at screen to view photos not take them. Is this the case with all SLR's?

Using nikon d40 focused at 200mm, does it mean without using VR or tripod I can compensate for bluriness if set at 1/200 or faster? The idea is I want to avoid buying VR/IS or using tripod but still get sharpest picture.

Mostly directing this question at the regulars such as Tom Tom, Morey 000, Dr. Sam, and Petra Au. Is there any digital camera out there where without hesitation I know I can get an excellent 16X20 or at least an 11X14 consistently? As we all know, there's no gurantee that all cameras with 10 megapixels or higher can accomplish this.Or do you people flatly recommend a DSLR?

I'm so protective over my new digital camera!

I have/had a canon sd 450 but the lcd screen went two weeks ago and now the lens is jammed out so its pretty much garbage. Other then it breaking, the only major complaints I had were the semi-slow picture taking time, and blurry pictures due to my slightly unsteady hand (I love taking candid shots.)

I also felt the zoom range and flash could use some improvement but overall I was happy with my camera.

I want to know if the 850 is worth the extra $$ or if there is another compact camera that would be recommended to me.
