I don't have photoshop. Any thoughts on how I can view these files? Cheers

Use the Nikon View program that came on the CD with your camera (or download it from Nikon).
And for what it's worth, if you don't do advanced image editing, you have no reason to continue shooting in RAW - best quality jpg will suffice.

RAW files are NOT converted. They are processed, leaving the RAW file unmolested and when the modified file is exported, you can choose if you want them to be JPEG, TIFF or DNG files. Just forget the term "convert" when talking about RAW files You do that using programs like Adobe LIghtroom which allows you to process them in batches. I have processed over 400 files at one time, but I don't know if there is a limit to the number that can be done at one time. Nikon sent a program which will allow you to process RAW files and save them to a new file folder as other type files.

If you want to edit your photos, then Nikon CaptureNX is a good place to start. Adobe Lightroom is also amazing, but twice as much. Otherwise, like previously stated, if you are not editing your photos that much, there is no point in shooting in RAW.
