I recently looked into the Sigma EF-500 Super.
This seems to do a comaparable job for less money.
It supports iTTL metering (unlike the 'regular' EF-500) and with the included wide-angle panel it supports wide angle lenses up to 17mm.
The main drawbacks are build quality, recycle time (about 5 seconds vs. 2.5, but the Sigma is more powerfull) and the SB600 is easyer to use when not mounted on the hot shoe.

I;ve found alot of flashlight for Nokia SB-600 on ebay . it cost from 24$ to 200$ depend on brand.. you can find it here :
