okay - my dad is going away in 2 days time and he has just informed me that his Minolta camera is giving him a problem. He has no manual and has asked me to look at it this lunchtime for him. I don't have a computer myself let alone a digital camera so as much help as possible is needed please.
THE PROBLEM: The camera is giving him a message saying he cannot use the card (we are presuming that is it full!!), but he can't delete the (103) pictures on the camera either.
Now please bear in mind that until lunchtime I won't ever have seen this camera - please keep answer simple :-)
Thanks for your help

I take it you can't format the card? All you can do, I suggest, is buy a new card - they are cheap enough. I have a Dimage 7i and have noticed recently that it has begun to corrupt cards. I was discussing the problem with another photographer just last week who again has been having the same problem. He thinks there is a basic fault in the Minolta Dimage cameras. It may be exacerbated by using the same card over and over - I really don't know. I do know that if it is a camera fault and not a card fault, it will be impossible to cure as the cost of repair (if anyone would even offer to do it) will far outweigh the costs a new camera. It's a nuisance as I like my camera, although it is ancient now by digital camera standards and only 5 mp, but the Minolta lenses are excellent!
