My main goal is to have my computer back to where it came “out of the box”. I’m having trouble with the registry, trouble with uninstalling programs, old folders and files, etc. I have a HP desktop a1600n computer with Windows XP pre-installed. I do not know much about computers and what the best options are to fix it. It’s a new computer. Please help me.

1)What is the difference between Recovery Disks and the Recovery option in PC HELP TOOLS? Do they do the same thing, and if so, what exactly do they do?

2)What is the difference between a non destructive recovery and a destructive recovery? Are they both safe to do to a new computer?

3)Will a NON destructive recovery restore my registry, programs, folders, like it was when it came “out of the box”, or do I NEED to do a destructive recovery for that?

4)What do I do if my computer is asking me to insert a Windows CD? My XP came pre-installed.

5)With a non destructive and destructive recovery, what kind of data/files/programs will I lose? Will it mess up my hard drive and Operating System? I’m not very computer literate.

Please get back to me with the detailed answers to these questions. Thank you very, very much!

It's suppose to be in the tray in the lower right hand corner of the screen. It use to be there but not any more. It disappeared right around the time when my speakers stopped working. I think these two things might be connected. How can I get that icon back - mabe it will help my sound issue - i.e., as in no sound at all.

Help, Im planning on upgrading my computer, however Im in a dilemma and am unsure of which motherboard to purchase.

I need to purchase the last 3 major parts for upgrading my computer; I have an WD SATA2 hard drive and a brand new Nvidia Geforce 7600 GS 512MB DDR2 PCI express video card.

Im leaning toward purchasing an Intel Core2 Duo E6600, DDR2-Ram (533/667/800 which ever would be best for board bus speed) and a P965 chip set type Motherboard.

My system is going to be used for low-end gaming and homework. I’m not planning on using SLI, or overclocking.

So Im asking what you guys think is my best option, the P965, however I not ruling out the 680i, or the 975x. I dont need a ton of motherboard for what I need, (dont need WiFi, parallel port, FireWire ports, eSATA, etc)

What I really want is ease and no conflicts, I want to know what will be practical and some experience from people telling me what really works well together.

Let me know what you guys think.

I am using an old version of Suse Linux and it says I have 2411MB for some sort of reason. I don't want to fix this, I just need to know how many gigabytes is that? Approximately.

I don't really know how to explain it but the sound is like if you are trying to open a large file or running a lot of things. It sounds like the harddrive is working (not a spinning sound). Most older computers do this. My computer is only about 1 year old and I have plenty of room on my HD. It has started making this sound even when it is asleep. Nothing is running and in the middle of the night it will wake me up with this sound. It is not a lound sound but I still hate it. Anyone know what causes this?

The best way to describe the sound is the sound when your computer is starting up and you can hear the HD or whatever is making this sound working. This is not a fan or speaker sound...

I installed 3 sticks of ram all 3 are sd ram i is samsung Pc133 the other 1 is Generic Pc133 and the other is Kingston Pc 133.The genric is is double sided, and all sticks are 128mb each,so the generis has 64mb on each side totallying 128mb.WHen i go into control panel, and click on system,it says 192mb of ram,and when i check the bios it says all 3 banks have 128mb installed. When i 1st switched on the pc,the graphics looked a bit dodgy, but when i reboote it checked the bios and loaded windows it was ok.Is all the memory there, even though it shows 192mb of ram? I don't get it,It seesm like 1 stck is being recognised and a 64mb of ram being recognise, which equals 192mb of ram,am i wrong and is it installed but not showing it,or is it soemthing else. What can i do?

I know that Core 2 Duo wipes the floor with the AMD x2 line, but i really want to know - will the AMD athlon x2 4600 be really that bad of a choice - i know its powerful enough to run Battlefield 2 maxxed while doing the Prime 95 torture testing and doing a Norton system scan, but the reviews and the bashings are really getting to my head - plus AMDs architecture is actually better with the onboard RAM controller.
I just wanna know will an x2 4600 be able to play the latest DX10 games with a good GPU and 2GB ram.
Cause ive always liked AMD, Intel is a big headache in the motherboard section and i have a great AM2 motherboard in mind.

Thanx alot
