Video card, processor, ram.

Depending on what you want to do, and what kind of computer you have, you might be able to get by with just new video card and more ram.

I recommend an upgrade in ram and in processor.
The processor will allow faster rendering and processing. Higher ram (2-4 Gigs) will make editing move more smoothly when browsing in your footage.

If your computer is freezing, perhaps there might be problems in the editing software. Make sure all background programs are not eating up too much CPU, including possible spyware or malware.

Unless you plan on buying a professional video editing card (such as the Matrox rt.x2 or rt.x100), then upgrading the video card is not going to do much. Most video cards for gaming have very little features built-in to aid video editing. Go to Matrox.com to find out what I'm talking about.

Besides a professional card, the CPU is the next biggest factor. You should be using a dual-core right now for applications such as Adobe Premiere that are written to take advantage.

And finally, there's the RAM. 1GB minimum, but I recommend 2GB.

The size of the file needs memory. large the size of the movie, the more ram it needs. 2gb of memory would help (according to the size of the file). Cpu can help "process" it. and the video for displaying it properly. It matters what you have right now, posting the parts here, it would help what needs improving.
