I'm thinking about buying a mobo for my AMD Athlon X2 Socket AM2 CPU. Would the following mobo be suitable? This is my first build.

What does the SLI mean? I'm not a gamer if that's what it's for. I'll be doing video editing and burning of family vhs and 8mm tapes.

And, I need fireWire (IEEE 1394) since my "ADS Pyro A/V Link" connects to the computer that way.

What do you think about this mobo for my CPU:

MSI K9N SLI Platinum Socket AM2 NVIDIA nForce 570 SLI MCP ATX AMD Motherboard

I am wanting to have a computer built, mainly for graphic intense games, to be able to play most all of the newer games would be nice (exam neverwinter nights2, oblivion etc) at decent settings with little lag (play multiplayer alot). I have been doing my best to save but have had a rough time lately. The other hardware I can pretty much figure out but the main processor/video/motherboard I am needing help. Some things that may help to know... I am a AMD fan, of the current graphic cards leaning toward Radeon x's, or gforce, From what I have read I like the duel core, and I want a computer that will last me a few years, so upgradeability is a MUST, I cannot emphasize that enough, I cannot afford to go out and buy a computer every year or two. I have researched a decent amount of time, and figured I would try here because I can list my individual needs/wants. Thank you for your time in reading my question I look forward to seeing your response! =)

Just bought a laptop. About to install XPHE. Would like to partition it and install linux in another partition. Can I use NTFS, or will it be trouble? Also, I have 80Gb hard disk. I guess partitioning in 30,30,30 would make sense?

What brand is better as far as computer?

Dell?
Compaq?

So long as the RAM type and the number of pins matches, voltage etc. does it really matter if the RAM is for PC or Mac? I don't think it would matter but I could be wrong.

I am a stay-at-home mom who is looking to do work from home and I currently have a Compaq Presario notebook but not too happy with it. I work with spreadsheets, word processors, etc. as well as playing games, downloading pictures and listening to music. What should I look for in a desktop and who makes the best one (in your opinion)? Thanks.
