evry time i log onto second life it lags even though i have a good comp. i tdosent have dual core and is about 4 yrs old. also other things for digital dishin need dual core is i tworth geting the new comp.?

No, second life does not require duo-core. You didn't list your computer's specifications so it's hard to tell what's causing the lag. Check out the Recommended Requirements here to see how your system stacks up:

Also, check your internet speed: http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/

The game recommends DSL or Cable internet and I would guess the bottleneck is NOT internet speed if your download is above 1500 and upload is above 256.

Only you can answer if it's time to get a new computer. I have a very stout single core computer and have decided to wait 12-18 months before I consider building a new one around duo-core. More products will be designed to take advantage of the the architecture later. Running existing programs on a new style processor will not make them run faster - programs must be built to use all the new features of the new design. I've also decided that any new upgrades to my existing computer would be a waste.
