So long as the RAM type and the number of pins matches, voltage etc. does it really matter if the RAM is for PC or Mac? I don't think it would matter but I could be wrong.

Check with a tech...but I don't think there is a difference. However, "iMemory" likely costs three times what it's worth, and is likely otherwise identical to generic stuff.

HOWEVER, I am NOT a tech, and have no experience with Macs in the last 10 years.

I reckon it doent matter. Go for more RAM.
But ask a pro if its ok.
