Hibernate is the best.
I rarely turn mine off as that reduces the components overall life.

I would think that turning it off would be better for the environment since it would be pulling extra electricity... but then again I really dont know if putting a computer to hibernate takes too much if any at all.

I usually leave it on standby, that way i don't have to wait 2minutes for it to restart the next day.
It doesn't really matter both choices are good.

Personnaly, I say better to turn off, it uses even less power, and totally insures no one can hack it.
