I have a Dell computer (Precision 220). Whenever I try to log into my user account, I get this message: "You have to install SHDOCVW.dll". How can I install this, and how can I get my desktop back to its original state (with the taskbar and icons in view)? I somehow got to try system restore, but that didn't work.

Help appreciated, thanks.

I added a wireless card to the computer and vacuumed a little very carefully. When I put it back together, nothing happens when I pus the power button - no fan, no lights - nothing. The computer is completely stock, with the bestec atx-250-12z power supply. There is a green light on the back of the power supply that is blinking. When i disconnect all drive power cables, the light continues to blink, and when I disconnect the 4-pin power cable to the mobo it still blinks. Disconnecting the 20-pin cable to the mobo allows the light to glow continuously. My question is, what is broken? Power Supply or motherboard. I tested the front panel power switch and it is OK.

We've disconnected our IMAC from the internet, but I have 3 years worth of pictures I need to get off there. Does anyone know how I can get the pictures off? I want to get them developed. Is there a way to put them on a cd and send them into a film processing place? HELP!

I am building a computer and got a new motherboard and Core 2 Duo processor bundle. I also got a 550W power supply. The power supply has a 20-pin connector and a 4-pin connector (like every other power supply I have found). The motherboard apparently requires a 24-pin connector and a 4-pin connector. Does this mean my power supply is not compatible? And if it's not, where can I find one with 24 + 4 pins? Or is there some kind of adapter I can buy?

I'm in the process of overclocking a Core 2 Duo E6600 on a Striker Extreme board with OCZ DDR2 PC2-6400 Platinum Revision 2 Dual Channel memory.

How far can I push the vcore (and therefore the FSB) without risking any damage to the CPU? I am using a Zalman 9500AT for cooling and so far it's keeping me at 33 degrees idle and about 49 degrees under load.

As of right now I am at 3330 MHz, (370 x 9), FSB 1480. VCore at 1.500 and DDR at 2.15V.

The CPU Batch # is L632B417, in case that matters.

The CPU box says max. 1.35V but I'm already past that without issues, so I'm assuming that's a "safe" max as recommended by Intel.

Yes, I am new to overclocking, but not to computers.

(Any other advice relating to overclocking would be welcome!)

I don't really care so much about burning CD's,DVD's or any of that stuff. I do want a flat screen monitor, and enough power to multi-task, ie surf, use webcam, and play online games at the same time without causing my comp to crash.

I know the dangers of ESD to components inside the case but twice last night I got a shock from the outside and Windows rebooted on its own. Are there any suggestions for grounding the case? The ESD obviously is effecting the insides (the reboot) and I'm worried about frying something!!
