Windows Media Centre allows you switch to Media Centre and back to your regular interface meaning you do have your regular XP running in the background. So I really I think it will upgrade to a new version of XP you should definately backup your files. Check the Microsoft website.

I have windows xp media edition, and see no advantage to having it. In fact I prefer just media player 10

yeah.. ull need either a recovery disc. or a new harddrive ( its what i did when my XP had a virus, since my recovery only restored it to factory bought, and it didnt have XP on it, just fact. settings ) sooo yeah, thers probably a erase current XP on there or somethin.. u cant keep ur current files if u put on the new XP

yeah as long as you purchase the media center edition package that does not format your hard drive. their are two versions the full install (this is the one you dont want) and the upgrade installation (the one you want)

BE CAREFUL....when installing an OS even an upgrade, it can and might wipe your HD clean. Back up all your data first, burn to CD or use a JumpDrive of all your important data.
