if you are in Windows Xp, just go to Control Panel, Performance and Maintenance and then System-check it near the bottom of the menu!

if you Hold down the Windows Key ( Bottom left corner of your keyboard with a little flag on it) and press the Pause/Break Key, System Properties will be brought up.
This will display the Spec of your PC including Your Memory
