also have another question - would an X1950XT 256mb perform better than an X1950 Pro 512mb - it has a fully fledged X1950XTX core, only lower clocked and less memory.

more than enough. It will take atleast 2-3 years from now on before you will need to upgrade for games releasing during that time.

Anything that uses a Core 2 Duo with 2GB of RAM and 512MB of Video RAM can pretty much play anything. The easy way to find out is to look at the minimum system requirements for the games. That's why game manufacturers post them.

well the Diambond Viper Radeon X1950Pro 512mb would be better than the other one most deffenetly the computer seems like a very nice computer but if your looking for a nice card go with an AGP or G-Force with 512mb they have some really nice ones for your price range the because your looking for a pretty high quality pixels so i would imagine one of those would do for you...

That will be plenty of power to support these games out there now. 2GB of RAM is an awful lot with the video cards and processor listed here. Maybe a little over kill or anticipation. Also think about a second video card. This motheboard supports this option. I would trade a GB of memory for a new video card.
