If you are trying to do a restore on your computer with a CD and it is not working then there are several things that could of happened.

One someone has put in hardware that
is not the same as what came with the computer or you have a damaged hardware piece. Or your CD is bad?

if you have tried system restore and it will not restore to an earlier time go back to system restore tick the box create a restore point it will restore to the date and time that you have chosen,but will delete the previous restore points and begin to add new restore points to the calender.

It will never work ,you will have to set a restore point today and then later you can go back to it,,or reinstall your OS and set a point
